Don King Productions just released a press anouncement stating that the upcoming bout between McCline and Mollo will be a WBC eliminator. This is unbelievable and gives us further proof of how corrupted these organizations are. I mean McCline is coming off a loss against Ruiz and Mollo recently lost to Golota. Billing this as an eliminator is a disgrace to boxing and an insult to all boxing fans. Even at his advanced age Don King still seems to hold all the strings behind those organizations...
didn't they just have a Eliminator in germany 3 week ago for the HW title, man these ABC boys are getting worst by the day, soon they will have 3 champion per Org and divison the way it is all going.
Not a lot of talent to go around for all the belts and titles and eliminators. If the heavyweights get much worse, you'll see eliminators featuring Butterbean and Brian Minto.
The card is great? LOL. Yeah, if you want to see a bunch of Don King recycled Heavyweights fight. This card is a joke.
Coming off a loss both of them it is pretty suspicious buut it surely isn't a finaleliminator, maybe an eliminator for #2 spot.Gomez is the mandatory for the WBC.
Oh man, this can not be true. This heavyweight division is just a disgrace. How many eliminators does the WBC make? We just had Virchis - Gomez. How the in the world does a guy like Virchis get an eliminator, totally undeserving IMO. And it showed in the fight as Gomez was on a different level. Now McCline-Mollo. How many times did McCline lose already. He recently lost to Ruiz and Peter and has not showed us anything in the last 8 years. I am not even gonna bother talking about that other guy.
I agree with lowblow, this is a farce but then again it's hardly surprising. Don King wants to milk this fight for all it's worth, he has to make this lame fight more attractive and credible by making it an eliminator. Money talks. Seems like Don King has his say not only within the WBA but also within the WBC, at least concerning the HW division. What I don't get is why he didn't make Tone-Golota or Toney-McCline happen, that fight would have generated much more public interest and thus also more cash...
I agree with Frost, even without immediate promotional ties to the champions King seems to be as influent as ever within the major organizations. Involving Toney in the card would indeed have made a lot more sense than recycling McCline all over again. But then again who knows, maybe a bigger fight (against Valuev) is looming for Toney...
