[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Calzaghe said: Oscar is not a real fighter!
In an article to the Western Mail JC said:

"De La Hoya may be two years younger than me, but I am a hungry guy," "He has got a lot more money than me as well. That's the big difference in this. He really didn't need to keep fighting. De La Hoya hasn't been a real fighter for years. You can't fault the guy because he has been a great fighter in the past and made so much money from the sport. But, realistically, he has been a part-time boxer for years. That showed last weekend against Pacquiao who was so hungry to win that fight. Unfortunately for De La Hoya he just fell apart at the hinges after the first few rounds. He just didn't have anything there. So hopefully that was his last fight, I don't think he is going to fight again."

Oscar de la Hoya fought at least a dozen of world class opponents in their prime while this silly loudmouth fought 95% of his career handpicked bums in Wales!

Hell JC is losing his sense of reality pretty badly.

Please retire immediately and STFU in the future. I am absolutely no de la Hoya fan, but Calzaghe is the last man to deny DLH the attitude of a real fighter.

Its becoming blatantly obvious that Calzaghe is jealous of the PPV numbers that de la Hoya generates.

He spends 95% of his career boxing in his backyard and now realizes that the real money is US PPV.

I agree with some of the posters in this thread, while Clazaghe may be right calling DLH a part time fighter, but Calzaghe's resume is as weak as it gets for a guy thats held a belt/belts since 97, at least Oscar fought the best in the world in every weight class he fought in over the last decade.

I just watched JC say that on tv an hour ago. He wasnt disrespecting De La Hoya, just saying that DLH went on too long, while at the same time not fighting regularly enough to keep his skills sharp, and it all caught up with him eventually in the ring against pacman. JC was saying he wouldnt make the same mistake

There's nothing wrong with the quote imo, other then that Joe has been going on, and still does, about his Great victory over Jones. It is a little hyprocrytical. Perhaps he should pass such damning comment on opponents closer to home.
