"I'm just figuring he'll give us a good blueprint to fight him, how Floyd handles fighting a southpaw," Roach said of Ortiz

Floyd has fought southpaws in the past. I don't know about anybody else. But I was stunned when I read this. After all of Roach's past talk about how Floyd can't handle pressure fighters and how he lost his legs, I figured that Roach has been studying Floyd's fights for years trying to find little details to exploit. I don't really get surprised but that comment did it.

And like I've said in another thread. If Roach has studied Floyd fight and doesn't have a gameplan now, then he never will. Pacquiao is in trouble unless Victor gives Floyd way more trouble then we predict(not likely).

You'd be foolish to read too much into anything Roach says. He's also said that Cotto and Mosley were harder opponents than Floyd, and that Floyd has lost his legs (foot in mouth when Pac beats Floyd).

hmmm, im under the presumption that Roach has watched FMJ footage too....

maybe the fights vs southpaws werent good footage, good fights, or not comparable fights w/ Manny's style...

maybe you're reading into his off the cuff remark too much also....

It's amazing how people jump on a quote and panic.

For years ... ****ing hell mate, Floyd isn't god. Roach doesn't sit day and night thinking of a freaking game plan, you know.

When the fight comes, he'll study what he needs to and that's that.

Floyd hasn't fought for about a year and about 5 years since he fought a lefty. This fight would be a good indicator to where he is now.

Floyd isn't God? :think Are you sure?

:lol:He will probably need to start if he hasn't come up with a gameplan yet.

You're an idiot. Roach also thought it was too premature for Pac to fight MAB, EM. :patsch

I bet he started studying tapes during the first rounds of negotiations. Even after the Clottey fight, Pacquiao said "His defense is hard, not like Floyd, we studied his defense." Take that as you will, they have taken a look at Floyd closely once or twice. Ortiz may provide the most relevant example, but there is a wealth of tape out there Roach is already at least vaguely familiar with.

This is what I think. Roach probably had something going during first round of negotiations but a lot has happened since then. This would be a good indicator to where he is now.

the last time floyd fought a lefty he was a different fighter. no way does he still have the same speed, reflexes and stamina. he is smarter now and more effecient. he will deal with a strong, fast southpaw way different today then he would have 5 years ago.
this one will studied by everyone that wants to know how pac might do against him. lets see how easily he gets past paquiao lite.

Exactly . . . Roach has a game plan, this is more of seeing how Floyd has evolved and how he fights now after his long vacation.
