If the fight went another round, Lee would be in a coma. He was getting rocked

While it was a horrible stoppage at that moment, the ref did Lee a big favor.

People will look on it as, yea, it was a loss, but, it will be recognized as a bad stoppage
He was in serious danger of taking a lot more punishment before he went down. Punishment that could affect him in the future.

So, he took a lot less punishment than he would have, a lot of people will not recognize it as a loss and he'll get a decent payday for a rematch against a guy he should be able to beat relatively easily.

But, for the love of God, would Steward or someone teach him how to tie up?

They were in the middle of the ring and the ref stepped in after Lee hit Vera flush with a left. That's why I think it was a bad stoppage. The ref usually stops a fight if a fighter is out on his feet and/or not throwing back. Lee was not out on his feet, and they stopped the fight right after he threw and landed a punch.

I've tried making that point. Deaf ears.... But really, what better indication is there when the fighter doesn't put up much of a protest?

That only indicates that the fighter may lack heart. Some fighters are ready to call it a day after one good punch. True warriors never want to give up. I'm not saying Lee neccesarily lacks heart, but just because he didn't protest doesn't mean that it was a good stoppage.

Heart was the only thing keeping him up. New front page article from ringside. Guy claims he could see Lee's eyes rolled back from there and the ref was much closer.

Read "Boom Boom" Mancin's account of his fight with Duk Koo Kim. Everytime Ray thought he had done enough to get the fight stopped, Kim would muster up an answer and the ref let it go on. We know how that turned out. NO reason to let Lee take any more damage. Do you really think Lee could have found an answer to change the outcome?

The stoppage was maybe abit early but Lee was becoming Veras *****
If anything the stoppage kept us from viewing a brutal KO with Lee on the canvas
I wonder what all the hardcore mick fans think now...Duddy is out and Lee is definitly out
    they should fight each other
