    This is ridiculous!

Canelo is becoming notorious for this, happened against Lara/Angulo now Kirkland.

God damn either fight at 154 or 160 simple as that

Only time catch weights should be accepted is when two champs are a division apart & they meet in the middle to make a fight.

155 Nelo is just being lazy to share the extra pound

    So annoying

Not a big deal if not for title. Kirkland doesnt like making the 154 limit either, prefers 155/156 for no title.

If it was for title I'd agree. But since neither guy is being drained down, I dont find it an issue here.

It drains both fighters to make the 154 lbs limit, and since a title is not at stake its probably why both agreed to give themselves the extra pound.

Yeah for once I agree with you. Catchweights are mostly ****, they just open up the sport for even more shady lawyers and draw negotiations to even more ridiculous lengths.

Fighters basically creating their own weightclasses, dragging their opponents into them who have less experience boiling down to 155 or whatever catchweight was negiotiated.

No title at stake, who gives a ****. Also Kirkland has been looking fat, it'll help him more than CinnaG

I feel the opposite that you do. I dont see the harm in making an over the weight fight when there are not titles at stake, but I feel like it cheats history for a smaller man to claim he's a champion of a certain division when the champion is'nt being allowed to weigh at the limit.

I don't see the fuss about catch weights. All limits are man made approximates and mean nothing special. Catch weights actually give fighters freedom to fight in their desired weight. Weight classes are like dress sizes, catch weights are like tailored dresses.

Why bother with weight classes at all? It is dumb to say it's ok because it isn't for a title...I mean...whoever wins is going to up their ranking are they not? So it eventually does, or could affect a title.

This is Canelos 4th cat hweight in a row. It is ridiculous.

Isn't that case? I thought it was. I didn't know they could go over the weigh-in weight. In such case I agree it's pointless.

Good point, if both fighters are at 155, should their ranking at 154 be affected by this fight?
