As long as there is no title why does it matter? This will probably help Kirkland more than Canelo considering he has been inactive for a good while.

i dont like catchweights when they are for titles but for this fight its actually a good thing. both fighters have trouble with the 154 weight limit so this will allow them to come in at their best

And that's not the case with regular, non-catchweight fights? Aren't weigh-in's done 1 day before in each fight? What's the difference? I'm just asking to understand this point-of-view.

lol at you guys - no title on the line so the weight is irrelevant. Absolutely irrelevant.

Neither of these guys want to make 154, so why should they? If anything they'll both be a bit drained - we'll be getting a better fight with them only having to sweat it down to 155lbs.

There is no 155 lb. division period! Golovkin was Cotto's mandatory, Cotto chickened out, refused to fight Golovkin, so paid step aside money. Golovkin was promised to be mandatory for a fight with the winner of Cotto/Alvarez, Alvarez won, so now Alvarez refuses to fight Golovkin as was promised..............This WBC title is for the 160 lb. title, rules are that a middleweight title fight should be fought at no higher than 160 lbs., if EL POLLO Alvarez does not want to lose his title he should fight his mandatory at 160 or less........................

I like Canelo but the fact he's not made light middle since he fought Mayweather almost 2.5 years ago is bullchit. He needs to either make 154lbs and defend there or move all the way up to 160lbs. Dragging Khan up 2 divisions is also a load of bull. In my eyes he's tarnishing his career by being a catch weight king.
