Kika Chávez beat Joya Moreno in July of last year by MD at flyweight, avenging her 2011 unanimous decision loss to Moreno at light fly while a green prospect and making her 3rd defense of her WBC title. Here she attempts her 6th defense of the green belt from her crosstown rival.

They're off to a blistering pace early. This pair knows each other so well, no feeling out process required. Chávez is throwing fat soaring left hooks at the challenger, taking command of the middle of the ring. Moreno is shooting crisp jabs down the pike, circling in a counterclockwise glide, very smooth. Nice counter 1-2s from Moreno as Chávez whacks the body with powerful hooks.

Chávez is now lining up 1-2s from outside and scoring nicely. Moreno shoveling in body shots and jabbing high just past the head. Chávez is jumping in and drubbing the body and darting outside.

Chávez is popping the jab and keeping her distance. Moreno bull-rushing and twirling herself in with big pivots throwing massive hooks. Chávez blocking and knifing straight combos into the face of Moreno while getting clipped with glancing hooks circling at mid-range.

Chávez is exchanging inside with Moreno, hacking down with right hands to fend her off. Accidental forearm on the nose by Chávez, and Moreno is hurt and more than a little annoyed but shrugs and gets back to work after the ref demands they resume the action without delay. Moreno is working the body, huge scything punches and Chávez is tiptoeing outside and leveraging down avalanches of jabs and rights between the eyes of Moreno. High-pace violent chess here, more than I can accurately describe in time, frames chock full of world class offense and defense unfolding in under 2 minutes apiece.
