Kessler is a B level fighter, so why spend time talking about him. He's through, but so is Franz Botha.
Only thing to say is, Good luck with your new career.

I guess the same would of been said of Jersey Joe Walcott as he was about to fight Ezzard Charles for a third time?

Seriously, all this "he's shot, he's through, he's exposed, he's massively overrated" bullcrap needs to stop, the man is benefitial for the tournament, so what if he's not technically on par with Andre Ward? He's still an addition to the division?

Kess is a walking crash test dummy now ... when you fight bums and old men you remain pristine (see Calz, and Hatton b4 fighting May and Pac) .. but when you step up to guys who can hit back you start to take real punishment - when you're clearly not athletically exceptional or extraordinarily talented.

The limited protected guys who fight 95% of their fights in Cardiff or Copenhagen or Berlin over a career do it for a reason.

Put them in with prime athletes and they begin to get ****ed up.

Kess has just been EASILY dominated by Ward (a relatively inexperienced pro version and not yet at his absolute peak) and had to go life and death with the limited Froch to edge a win ... he's done. He needs time to recuperate so he can survive or compete in a few more fights before retiring. Without a good rest he'd get knocked out soon. He figured the best he might do is struggle in another life and death match to possibly edge Green (a guy who took an identical beating from Ward) or look like a joke losing the bout but getting the HOMETOWN dec. So he bailed. It is a business. He can't go back to fighting bums - unless he has a good excuse. Now he can tune up with domestic/regional bums if he needs to - or, he can slide into a high level match after the tournament if he feels better or up to it. In the meantime he will be partying and spending his money - the end is coming very soon now.

A seemingly decent and nice guy, an okay fighter, sort of near guys like Calz, Ottke, Reid, Sheika, that level. Nothing special compared to great athletes but well above the normal crap in a really poor era of boxing overall.

They'll be more Kesslers .. it is not like he's some extraordinary athlete. Definitely seems a likable dude. No need to worry about him. Plenty of bank (earned before much of the world's more recent economic and financial difficulties) to spend from being the principle performer in a one horse town.

Wow. A professional writer of Boxing actually wrote this? Wow. Just wow. I guess he doesn't realize that when you drive you aren't getting hit, but when you are actually in the ring your eye gets hit. This is ****ing absurd. I can't believe somebody actually wrote this, and a professional writer of the sport of Boxing actually wrote this. Holy ****, this is a whole new low. Even a member on ESB didn't create a thread saying Kessler is a faker, coward, etc.

I guess everybody who gets injured in sports is a faker. All tohse NFL players that have been getting hurt in Training Camp are fakers, Strasburg is a faker, etc. What a load of crap.

I agree with this to a certain extent, but I also believe that Calzaghe was an exceptional athlete and tallent, who was very skillful.

It depends how bad the blurriness is. I have blurriness and double vision past a certain distance, and I've driven without wearing my glasses many times. It's actually quite easy, but I still wouldn't advise it.

Iole is a ****. Just because vision is crap doesn't mean you can't drive. He's probably just giving his ****ing health time to recover (if it does at all) rather than saying "Well my vision is bad. I can't fight anymore."

Calz was a good athlete and talent who had some good attributes.

Joe's limitations were never more obvious then watching him get caught over and over and walking into the same punch against a worn Eubank or flailing and looking comparatively less talented and natural than a 45 year old Hopkins.

Nothing wrong with being a good athlete with good attributes. Not the same as being extraordinary. If he had been extraordinary then it would have been evident .. e.g., RJJ.

Kessler is really really the wrong example here. If someone has travelled, then it is Kessler.
