 Yeah, I don't actually think either of these guys can KO each other, but if there is a knockout, it will be Wlad who does the knocking out.
I hope it is interesting too . Wlads style is annoying sometimes. hits and holds. But i wouldn't mind seeing Wlad get beatup but i think he wont. lets wait and see.
I'd love it if Thompson gave Wlad a run for his money, but I can't help but recall all of the "Ray Austin is a big fighter who does everthing pretty well" talk leading up to that blowout.
I never jumped on the Ray Austin bandwagon . . . knew his chin was made of paper mache'. I just think Thompson has ring smarts that aren't easlily measured on paper. Again, I could be so wrong on this one and will gladly come back and say so. I'm really hoping for a competive title fight for once.
Thompson has always come off as a little too plodding and a little too amateurish to take on top guys. The only decent guy Thompson has beaten is Krasniqi, and he's not that good as well. Most of his wins are against the standard list of American has-beens, tomato cans, and journeymen. He also has fought in almost a year.
He's not as schooled, as fast, or as powerful as Wlad -- Wlad has been in the ring w/ stiffer competition and won't hesitate to get Thompson out of there quickly. His superior boxing skills and jab will discourage Thompson early ... Add to that ... Thompson is way too old to do anything at this point in his career. Its cool that he's got a title shot but its very difficult to compete against a guy who's so schooled and so skilled.
I too think that many people are just overlooking a big man like Tony. He is good and has not shone like many others at top level.. But i always do say.. Every dog has his day.. You just never know when Wlad is ready to fall apart again , and if anyone looks ready to capitalize it could surely be a man of Tony's dimensions and confidence.. I expect Wlad to win but i also think Thompson is very deserving of his shot.. I wish him all the luck , he is a working sleeper who is having the chance of his life..
His day is getting a title shot after starting boxing at a late age and not having that good of amateur pedigree ... Not having fought any big dogs on his way up ... this will by far be a huge step up in class.
i've never seen Thompson fight but from clips he looks akward, and being a southpaw will work to his advantage because Wlad can be hit with straight lefts all day....can't see Thompson hurting Wlad with anything, but he could frustrate Wlad and make decision time interesting....
THompson has the power to ko wlad. You do not have to be a hard puncher to ko wlad. He cannot take a punch worth a ****. I've only seen him hit a few times with out going down. Watch the third round of the first Brewster fight. Wlad got hit by a jab and was hurt bad and almost went down. Mark my words wlad is going to get hit tomorrow night and he is going to get cut and he's going to be ktfo.
I just don't see it. This is a huge step up in class for Thompson also. I just want to see an exciting fight that goes decent rounds.
This happens everytime there is a big underdog. Thomspon is going to get his ass kicked. It will be a moral victory if he can make it to the 8th round.
Wlad looks awesome, after a few hits, Thompson calls it a night, just like Austin.3rd TKO. I would like to give him more respect, but a win over Krasniqi does not a fighter make.
