In his prime he was a true boxing genius, it was a true honour to be able to watch that kind of boxing talent .... When people put Calzaghe in the same sentence as Jones, i either laugh out loud or become physically sick, depending on what kind of mood im in ..

it was also a joke to see Calsalppy's attempt at showboating against the ancient, shot version of Jones he handpicked.
    great video, thanks.

I wasn't being clever it's just that you said lost before the Ruiz fight, so I assumed you were referring to another time he nearly ****ed up.

Yeah Jones lost one before the Ruiz fight -

Lost Disqulification 9 - Montell Griffin.

However Roy got real pissed off with what happened there - and Griffin got destroyed inside 1 round in a rematch.

    Great stuff.

Roy Jones against David Telsoco was shown clips of in there

Roy is seen goading him alot in the fight

    The reason is I believe

Telsco had been goading Roy Jones at his fights and challenging him

Telsco would rip his top off in the crowd and challenge Jones to a fight

So Roy was trying to humilate him in the ring when they finally met

Roy injured one of his hands in that fight

And fought and beat Telsco with one hand

Like he beat Bernard Hopkins with one hand

Mayweather is a sensational fighter as is Manny Pac, Pernell Whitaker and Sugar Ray Leonard but there is nobody in the history of the sport who had the flamboyance and the reflexes of Roy Jones Jr. He was a phenomenon, and yet there are people who like to denigrate him and say, 'he fought nobody of any note', but with Roy's talent its so clear to see, that even if he fought the best Light Heavys in history like Michael Spinks, Bob Foster and Archie Moore, he would do what he wanted with them.
I'm a huge fan of the old fighters and i would 99% favour them over any modern day fighter but Roy Jones was unique, without doubt one of the greatest fighters that ever lived, i'd take him to beat the light-heavy alumni, Spinks, Foster and Moore .. He was truly that good ..
As for Calzaghe, he was marketed superbly .. He threw 200 punches a round and landed about 2, thats not exciting to me, thats just inaccurate .. He fought bums his whole career before taking on faded legends like Hopkins and Jones, Big Deal !!!!! Lacey and Kessler ?? WHO ?? They're nobodies !!
Joe Calzaghe MBE, doesnt it make you proud ?? Yeah about as proud as Henry Cooper being given an honour for getting destroyed by Ali or Bruno getting annihilated by Tyson .....

Roy Jones Jr is a Legend, forget about the fights after Ruiz, as a boxing fan just watch the 90's Jones, unbeatable, brilliant, a true superstar !!
