I think his chin used to be about average, even in his prime he got hit occasionally, and when he did he was usually fine. Him getting knocked out twice was mainly due to coming down from heavyweight, that affected his punch resistance quite a lot. But also his reflexes declined and he was getting tagged with shots he never would have gotten hit with before.

The beating he took from Joe was nasty, although it showed his chin isnt complete glass, even in this diminshed state he still managed to stand a full 12 whilst taking quite a few shots and suffering a gash. Although Joe is by no means a devastating puncher.

  2. Something happened to Jones between the Ruiz and Tarver fights. One minute he can take shots from a full blown heavyweight and the next his getting ko by Tarver who isnt a big puncher. Some people believe its due to him moving down in weight, but I have to disagree. For his fight with Ruiz he weighed 200 lbs for his fight with Tarver come fight night he would of weighed about 187 lbs. I cant see how loosing 13lbs in 6 months make a guy loose his chin.
