Yes I know it sounds extreme and the governments won't even reduce their copyright laws laws let alone abolish it, but that is the reason PPVs are so expensive. That one company Aereo who was offering over-the-air teleivsion for like $10 a month (a much cheaper price than what the cable companies were offering) and that company got shut down for copyright infringement. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aereo#Legal_challenges
Yeah, I've commented a few times already that I think that if Manny and Mayweather ever did meet that the PPV fee would top 100 bucks. Unfortunately I disagree with the ts, I don't think ANY fight is worth that to watch on tv. I've been a fan of boxing for about 35 years now and I will follow the sport, but no under card could justify a 100 price tag. Truthfully I think the drop in numbers for most PPVs lately has a lot to do with the 70 bucks they are charging now. I paid my mortgage off a decade ago, buy used cars for cash and carry no debt. 100$ ppvs are still off the market for me, I just don't see the value. Corrupt officials and the trend to pad a boxers record until he can get into position where his handlers can start bribing folks to make the fight happen and then have a total mismatch is not a recipe for success to me. I don't want to see that **** for any kind of money. When the same fight is aired for free in one part of the world and then charged 70 bucks to see in a different market it offends me and so I put my wallet where my mouth is and keep my hard earned money. There are many alternatives today to watch a fight if you really want to. Stream it, wait for the replay etc... Boxing used to be a poor mans sport but it looks like they are now courting the 1 percenters. OH YEAH like somebody else mentioned, championship fights are 12 rounds greatly increasing the possibility of a draw. Remember that warm fuzzy feeling everybody got when Lewis and Holyfield met for the first time? I'm not risking 100 bucks for that s**t either!
Traditionally don't mega fights have terrible undercards? I remember hearing this here once. I think it has to do with the money being spent on the main fight and people knowing it will be bought, plus not wanting to upstage the main event. I really have no stats to support this but it would be fun to look up, and pretty easy to do so.
Who's fault is it that the PPV fees are ridiculously high?? YOURS !!!! The fans who buy the farces. The only time I paid to watch a PPV was Lennox Lewis-Evander Holyfield 1 the only Lennox fight I could not get to see live. I went to Baby Dolls topless bar in Ft Worth Tx. ****s & Boxing & ice cold beer was worth it just once. I wouldn't pay 50c to watch todays PPV.s
