Yaqui Lopez was a warrior, can hit like a hammer....but his style, eventhough entertaining, we not condisive to a world title...In my opinion he was the best Mexican fighter ever above 160lbs....

Interesting how many of the younger guys on ESB doen;t know how good this guy was, unfortunately his prime coincided with wha is probably the toughest competito in LHW history with the likes of Galindez, Marvin JOhnson, Spinks, Mathew Saad Muhammad, Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Mate Parlow, Mike Rossman, Conteh, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad...the Philly boys dominated that division after the departure of Bob Foster

Yaqui Lopez was one of my favorite fighters to watch. His fights with Matthew Saad Muhammad are some of my favorites. Never won a title, but has nothing to be ashamed of. The guy had talent and a big, big heart.

The 8th round of his rematch with Matthew Saad Muhammad was one of the greatest rounds ever.

    That whole fight was excellent.
