I would agree but if Lopez doesn't cut in the fight he has plenty of fire power and heart to upset Beterbiev. People forget that Yaqui Lopez made Mike Rossman quit after 6 rounds shortly before Rossman stopped Galindez for the title.

Beterbiev massacres him, but Lopez is brave.

I think massacre is a bit of a strong word.

You're talking about a fighter who had competitive fights vs Conteh, Muhammad, Galindez, Spinks, these are some of the most notable Light Heavyweights in history.

Beterbiev's best win is vs Gvozdyk and he hasn't been competing against anywhere near the upper echelon names that Lopez was having to fight.

Would I favour Beterbiev to beat Lopez ? Probably yeah but it certainly wouldn't be a massacre.

Have you ever seen Lopez fight? Tougher fighter than beterbiev and he would have to be tougher than Lopez to win and not sure that would happen. I do not believe fighters today are as tough as they were in Lopez's time. If Lopez didn't cut he could win. Lopez may is the greatest Light Heavyweight to never win the title.

Lopez also had a very good skillset, name me any other contenders that had the long, hard punch qualities of Lopez.

I think once Beterbiev takes the jab away from him and gets into mid and close range, the lack of defence and the basic guard of Lopez on the inside would allow Beterbiev to club away with hooks round the side and clean uppercuts, body shots etc, Beterbiev is also great at fighting on his terms on the inside by using clinchwork to decide when he throws and when to clinch to neutralise the opponent’s combinations, Beterbiev would also be able to find the gaps when Lopez opens up due to how straight up Lopez is.

Lopez is tough and that why I said he would be brave in defeat, Beterbiev would simply be too much for him, once he takes away the jab, he’d massacre him with combinations to the basic defence of Lopez with uppercuts, body shots and clubbing hooks round the side and finding the gaps when Lopez opens up.

Lopez was quality but Beterbiev is a beast with a capital B.

Does Yaqui ever and I mean ever--get a favorable matchup? Everything he gets is a hard road. How about a softie or 2?
