Tory rule has increased the number of children, pensioners and workers who live in poverty—reversing a long-term decline.

That’s the finding of a new report by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation think tank. Its UK Poverty 2017 report blamed rising costs of living, the housing crisis, low pay and benefit cuts.

Some 30 percent of children lived in poverty in 2015-16, up from 27 percent in 2011-12. Those most at risk are in single parent families or families with more than two children.

For these families benefit cuts have more than cancelled out the effects of minimum wage increases and tax cuts. Some 16 percent of pensioners are now in poverty, up from 13 percent.

And disabled people are more likely to be poor. Some 30 percent of households including a disabled person are in poverty.

Despite Tory scapegoating of unemployed people, the report notes that rising employment levels are no longer a route out of poverty.

Some workers can’t get the hours they need. Others are trapped on low pay rates—and cuts to benefits such as tax credits and housing benefits hit them

Hackney was really deprived area of London during the 80`s with tons of crime, but investers have bought a lot of the housing there and built private housing where social housing used to be forcing working class people to move out of Hackney and middle class people can move in because they can afford the new private housing, it`s called gentrification.

I never said it didn't, but not every fighter with an accent has DP. Even fighters that have neurological problems didn't necessarily get them from boxing. For example, SRR's Alzheimer's could have been brought on by diabetes, it's now being proposed that Alzheimer's is really a third type of diabetes and Ray's health was fine until the last few years of his life. Even then, there's no causal connection between brain damage and boxing, the two just happen to coincide. It's fair to say, in theory, that concussive and subconcussive hits to the head tend to cause neurological problems, but there are still lots of unanswered questions. We don't even have any good statistics studies on how many fighters are affected by boxing related neurological injuries. People are too quick to slap that brain damage label despite not knowing anything about brain injury. I've seen people say Holyfield has it, he's a country boy from Georgia they all sound like that.

My point is I'm sick of people bragging about how rough they had it like it's some kind of dick measuring contest. Pretty much everyone in the boxing game's had it hard one way or another, most people do except for the lucky few.
