It really is a head stretcher because whatever Boxxer may pay him for sign on fee plus ppv v Buatsi purse, which I don’t think will do particularly big numbers, it won’t be what he could have earned in Saudi. He was clearly a Warren favourite too, so you would have thought he may have had a couple of those which would have been retirement money. I think a simple case of being badly advised and it’s not rocket science to guess who by. Most likely Mr ‘you don’t need to throw any jabs against Kovalev Anthony mate, it will be fine.’
Huge credit to Yarde's team for managing to completely ruin his chances of fighting Buatsi on the biggest card the UK has seen for years. Brilliant effort on their behalf. *Willie Hutchinson says thank you
Throughout my 35 years in professional boxing, I have seen many different contracts between Promoter and Boxer. I remember a Promoter who introduced a clause stating that if the boxer was ranked in the top 10 by one of the 4 big federations, the contract was automatically renewed. In this way, it was completely impossible for the boxer to get out of the contract. There are many illegal contracts in the world of boxing.
Such a strange time to mess about with his contract / career, clearly Buatsi is the biggest fight out their for him. I'm sure their will be opportunities for him but, genuinely, where does he go from here? What a needless mess
Yeah like imagine Yarde, looking at this. Hutchinson a fighter he's been miles ahead of, is now getting his cash and slot of a monster card. Surely he's asking his management questions
To go and do what? Box Dan Azeez and then probably get fed to Whittaker in 2025. Good business move there Team Yarde!
Probably no coincidence Shalom appeared at Matchroom's show at the weekend and the Wembley announcement yesterday. Suspect there's been an outbreak of "play nice and you'll get a slice".
Fascinating. Could the boxer instruct the 4 sanctioning bodies not to rank him, and insist only on being BBBoC-ranked for a period?
He will be boxing soon. I would imagine Ben is expecting Buatsi to win and then to defend against Yarde next.
Don’t know the specifics, but it’s very unlikely that Frank would be wrong about one of his contracts. If I was to guess, the issue was probably around the contractual language of the expiry date/obligation. Just an opinion, but I think Boxing promoters intentionally make this area abit open to interpretation. It’s the same type of area which caused the issue with MR and Okolie/Buatsi. Anyway, it’s all settled. I doubt Warren is happy, but really he has bigger fish to fry.
