Almost had a rocky moment there in the 8th! Very brave performance from yarde, was having his head jabbed off all night but kept coming. I was screaming at the TV for him to start walking kovalev down sooner, it was obvious after 2-3 rounds he was going to get out classed trying to fight at range and off the back foot. He needed to get inside early even if it meant eating shots to do so and start ripping body shots in. He finally did that in the 8th but blew his load in the process. Kovalev was class, but he was there for the taking...the very few times yarde backed him up he looked vulnerable. After that big effort it was all over, another muscle bound fighter gasses out. Yarde should have gone for it from the off that was his mistake, his chance was early.
Its an absolutely horrible division to be part of for Yarde tbh. All the other champions beat/stop him waaaaaay more convincingly. If I was frank, I would build him towards the Buatsi domestic show-down.
Very inexpirienced. Over he's head, but proved he has a chin and a heart..... He was knocked down because he was spent.. Sort yourself out..
He got stopped by a jab. Name me one other guy you see getting stopped with a jab at LHW? So sort yourself out.
He showed great courage and has a better chin than I presumed. He will come again but I'm not sure how much better he can do against Bivol, Beterbiev and Gvozdyk.
What has getting knocked down by a jab got to do with it He's got a solid chin He ate about 3000 stiff jabs, and the last one knocked him down. It's called a cumulative effect...he was absolutely knackered you could have blown him over. Knock his skills all you want but anyone knocking his chin or heart on that performance needs to have a serious re think.
Got outclassed, outlasted fitness wise but he showed plenty of chin and heart, great attitude, gave it his all, no-one could say they didn't get their moneys worth there He reminds me very much of AJ, very good body, not great stamania, half decent boxer but nothing special The media and punters got what they came for, a Kovalev KO
Kid can be very proud of himself. Acquitted himself very well. Didn't look out of place in there. Well done Anthony
