Isit just me who thinks Yarde needs to switch promoter to reach his full potential & marketability? Frank Warren is a bitter dinosaur, whos match making is getting worse and worse. Yarde is now 15 fights in and has mainly fought super middleweight journeymen! If Yarde was with Hearn he would have had a decent test by now, someone like a Burton/Johnson. As a fan of British boxing, its not ideal to see every top talent go with Hearn but realistically he is by far & away the best promoter in the UK and probably the world. Ironically Hearn gets a lot of stick for his matchmaking but Warren is the one who has his top talents in regular mismatches until they face a weak WBO ranked fighter to edge near a title shot. Yarde has alot of potential he is very skillful, but I dont see him being taken seriously until he fights opposition atleast 2 levels above what he is now. Discuss.
Depends on the fighter. If he is happy just winning then stay how he is. If he wants to test himself Frank can deliver. If he wants sky exposure and test himself then he can move on. I think he is on catch up though through lack of amateur background. He should step it up though maybe at 20 fights. I see him skipping the British scene then dropping back to it.
The only thing he needs to change is his career path. You can’t fight loads of Hungarian journeymen, jump high in the rankings and then you get yourself mandatory against Kovalev! He needs to fight British level fighters, Buglioni for example. Come through that then target a Murat or someone. Ignore the fabricated rankings and don’t even contemplate world level until you’ve done absolutely anything on British and European level.
Fully agree. I've taken a bit of flack on the general for comparing Kovalev and Yarde considering their respective level of opposition and Yarde hasn't had 20 fights yet. But my point stands, as you have said Yarde is top ranked at WBO, in theory Kovalev could be next and he has yet to fight a top 50 type fighter.
TBf to guy not a lot amateur experience and look jump up in class from British to world level it's scary and division is stacked fighting a couple more British and euro level guys a year or 2 wait beterbiev kovalev get bit older and a few more wars will do him no harm. If he goes in these guys just now he be destroyed so what point
I’m sick of hearing about only 14 amateur fights, if you were so concerned about that then you should of stayed amatuer. I’m not saying step up and fight the world champions but stop beating up super middles then comparing how that fight lasted the distance against a super middle, it’s irrelevant.
can see side both arguments but who would next put him in with at moment he is fighting british level as he is britisg level he could and should step up euro level bit he is miles off top guys they aint goin rush him. Prob frank got is he hasnt got s stand out ppv seller along likes aj so he can put yarde dubois etc out against lower level he is tryin sell shows based on these guys alone he wouodnt build up way he is if he had a headliner brook or aj etc. A dont mind yarde he gets a lot stick but dont think he will ever trouble top guys division
Is he fighting British level though? Seeing as he’s avoided the 2 best at British level, his second to last fight that was a step up and I give him credit for that but you just no he’s going to keep fighting euro trash for the next 6 or so fights. I would put him in with Craig Richards he stepped up to light heavy to fight frank and he performed well he went the distance and was awkward would show us a lot about yarde without being to dangerous a fight for him.
For what it’s worth, Averlant and the last Yarde opponent are on par with with the likes of Ricky Summers and Richards who Buglioni has been facing recently -and they are of far higher calibre to Burtons last opponent and the one he’s fighting tonight.
Don’t disagree however you won’t find anyone saying that Buglioni is more than a British level fighter. Yarde hits harder than AJ apparently and is the real deal according to FW...
He needs to back off the roids and heavily focused bodybuilding. The bulk is slowly him down and making him telegraph his punches. Needs a better trainer who isn't there just to blow smoke up his bum and tell him how amazing he is doing. It's strange but I see parallels between him and Eubank jr in the way they train and approach fights against bums and believing their own hype and overestimating their own potential ability so early, after achieving absolutely nothing worthy of note in boxing.
If Yarde doesn't want to fight Burton or Buglioni then how about these 3?: Bob Ajisafe Trent Broadhurst - a guy who Bivol destroyed in 1 round Thomas Williams Jr - coming off 3 straight KO losses
Buglioni was offered the fight twice, then as soon as the board got involved started hiding behind Burton. Bob Ajaisafe would be an ok name- the others on your list would lead to the usual over the to criticism and the two guys he’s just beaten are aruguably better fighters
