This is why I don’t consider Canelo’s victory over Kovalev very good.

Old Kovalev had a brutal fight with Yarde, then fought Canelo with likely a rehydration clause 2 months later.

    There was a rehydration clause.
They hid this fact until about a day before the fight.

Fight would've been stopped in that round if it was over here. Funny how the bell didn't ring early like it did over here for Dubois vs Lerena, though.

Yarde was knocked out with a jab but it was more an attrition/exhaustion stoppage. That being said, had that not been a greatly declined Kovalev who was actually throwing full power shots like he used to he would've sparked Yarde out way earlier than that

Yarde got pretty unlucky in this fight.
Anyone can walk into a clean jab and get KO'd. That's boxing.

yarde's power is overrated too. At that time Kovalev was shaky and Yarde couldn't even put him down. Canelo took him out with 2 shots. If you get ko'd by a jab, you don't want to be hit flush by Beterbiev.

He won half a round against an over the hill fighter and you think that means he'll beat Beterbiev? Every round the UK fighter doesn't go down, you Brit fans think they dominated.

There was a rehydration clause. Kovalev was on a gag order and couldn’t mention it but Dan Rafael did some digging and exposed that there was indeed a rehydration clause the day before the fight.. What Golden Boy was doing with Canelo was borderline criminal.

So Canelo wins the WBC belt from Cotto. They drag Amir Khan up to defend the WBC MW title, next the WBC says he have to defend against GGG and he drops the belt. After fighting at 155-157 for 2 years he decides to fight at 154 for the WBO title against Liam Smith the same WBO title they didn’t want to fight for when Andrade had it and immediately after he vacates, they fight for it. Then he was not ready for MW but yet somehow in his next fight he fights JCC Jr at 165 with a 172 rehydration clause, JCC Jr hadn’t even fought below 169 for 3 years prior.

He finally fights GGG after 2 years in two fight where 1 he clearly lost and the other was very close. Next he fights Rocky Fielding a career SMW at a CW of 165. Then he fights Danny Jacobs with a rehydration clause in what could possibly be his best controversy free win. Then he fight Kovalev just 65 days after the man was almost KO’d and forced him to sign a NDA about the rehydration clause.

Canelo leaving GB was the best thing for his career because history was not gonna be kind to his career due to all those stipulations and favorable scorecards under their banner. That’s why I think he went so hard for undisputed at SMW.

I’m an internet bet underwriter. I’ve been in the trade for 17 years, how can I help?

I don't remembering him "completely shattering" Kovalev because that never happened. I do remember Goomba Head getting dropped and stopped by a jab from a washed up Kovalev though.

Yarde knocked out by a left jab.

I don't want to imagine what Beterbiev will do to him.

Ngl I’m pretty broke at the moment due to college so maybe instead of a bet we do like a forfeit or something? Idk.
