Yarde showed more Heart in one fight than Bivol& AB in their Careers

Yarde did nothing wrong, his stock has gone up & rightly so.
next step get to McGuigans & sign up there ditch the no spar trainer ...who is his spar but lifes life & he ain't up to the job.

 

I'd question bertos ability but heart? He showed that in his fights with ortiz, Guerrero, soto karras and Alexander

 

Have bivol or beterbiev been in a 50-50 fight or the underdog in a fight?

I dont know if they've been presented an opponent who could prove they have heart

 

He also hasn’t fought anyone to be mentioned in the same breath as Hopkins/Dawson/Pascal etc. That doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t end their lives as well. Kovalev couldn’t beat Beterbiev on his best day in his prime, he certainly isn’t doing it now.

 

What do they need to prove that for? Why do you even assume that you need heart to beat Kovalev? Why would a fighter that is a beast/undefeated ever have to be in a 50/50 fight or be an underdog?
Heart can lose you a fight in boxing (see Kovalev against Ward) but it’s not going to give you physical skills/abilities that actually win you a fight.

 

People have lost their minds.

Am I the only one who saw a 36 year old fighter, who had/has serious alcohol issues, at the very end of his career win nearly every round against a 26 year old, fresh fighter and ultimately knock him out with a JAB.

Warren, Tunde, Yarde all said this was the time to fight Kovalev, he was at the end of his career, too many tough fights, cracks in his amour... remember?

So Yarde fought a man they all believed was basically finished and lost handily in the end.


Now because Yarde did better than quite a few thought (because that's how lowly most rate Yarde) it's being turned in to some sort of "coming out party".


I tell you what, let Yarde have a little break, a quick warm up and go and fight another world champion, see how he gets on.. I would heavily back the other champions to smash his head in.

 

Brits jump through hoops to defend their fighters. They can't accept that their beloved fighters are rather mediocre.

 

When did Bivol quit or not display "heart"?? that fight against Barrera was pretty tough. he showed lots of heart.

 

Bivol and Beter both took concussive power shots from huge punchers and kept fighting, Yarde was broken down and stopped with a jab. Even the narrative of Yarde having the courage to 'go all out' in the eighth is suspect since it seems he hurt Kov with a counter punch after slipping a RH and only then went for it. It wasn't like he suddenly just came forward putting it on the line, walking through fire, he landed a good one doing the same slickster bull**** and then followed up as anyone would.

 

Most people here were backing Yarde to lose in 4/5 rounds. And Britain has had some incredible fighters, and much much less hype jobs than America.

When was the last time a yank traveled to Russia for a title shot?
When was the last time a yank stepped up to World level with hardly any experience and took a top 10 pfper 11 rounds?
Yarde did well. His lack of experience showed in the end.

 

Yeah, forget the teachings of Angelo Dundee, Freddie Roach, Eddie Futch, Cus D'Amato, Emanuel Steward etc.... Tunde knows best....

 

I wasnt making my comment in relation to how they would do vs Kovalev

I pick both at this point to beat kovalev and they pass the eye test. Both also have some good wins I wasnt saying they are bum beaters they must haven't had any fights they were expected to struggle in and haven't had much adversity yet

Beterbiev vs Gvosdk will tell us a lot about how good beterbiev is and I'm excited for that fight

 

Ya I felt bad for Yarde. Dont get me wrong, Kova really showed some ice the way he came out in the 9th, but Yarde would have had a better shot if he had a competent trainer. Kova has slipped a lot, maybe enough that Yarde could have pulled it off with a competent trainer.
