Linares is past his prime and has paper thin skin and has a shaky chin. He can't outbox Loma nor will he knock him out. Berchelt is prime has a belt at 130 which would be a unification fight and he will bring the fight to Loma.

 

Eh? Beating Ring LW champ Linares is a better scalp & achievement than SFW Berchelt. It gives him a 3 weight championship status too. It's clearly a more intriguing & legacy defining win. Berchelt may still happen but we'll see..

 

I have no problems with it just rather see him unify at 130 first. One good thing about him going to 135 is that he's closer to fighting Garcia.

 

Well Berchelt is hardly Vitali in the chin department is he? He was stopped in 1 round! Linares is a bigger name & a better boxer.. Fragile? Yes at times.. So was Sergio Martinez so what? Give the man some due...

His resume is easily found on Google. But it's the more that he was the best FW in the world, the best SFW and is currently the best LW, plus he's also currently the best LWW (with Crawford leaving). He's also a P4P peer of Loma and beating Garcia would make Loma a unified LW champion.

I could be being a bit unfair here not but I'm going to assume, mainly because you post on the GF, that your knowledge of boxing history is limited.

By my reckoning there's only 2 men who have managed such a feat before Garcia and that's Canzoneri and Armstrong. So the company he is in there is incredible.

There could be others who could be argued to have achieved it as well, Pacquiao and Marquez come to mind although I would tend to disagree.

So for you to say it's nothing special shows quite a lack of understanding in my humble opinion.

What isn't easier to search is how many boxers have been the best FW in the world and the best LW in the world.

I hope you also understand the paradox of having to beat a great fighter to be a great fighter.
