By beating someone who has elite wins. Mikey Garcia doesn't have that.

What do you class as elite?

Salido was the best FW in the world when Garcia beat him, and he went on to be the best FW in the world after Garcia beat him.

Martinez and Burgos weren't the best in the world and his career really stagnated at that time.

But moving up and destroying Zlaticanin made him the number 1 LW in the world (again only 2 people in history have achieved this accolade, only 2,out of everyone who's ever laced em up, only 2).

By beating Broner he positioned himself as the next best LWW behind Crawford and given his departure that makes him the best LWW out there.

Beating anyone who has been number 1 in 3 divisions is an incredible achievement in my eyes. You don't have to agree, I don't even particularly want you to agree. The way I list fighters on my spreadsheet is entirely in line with my views and no one else's really factors into that, to be totally honest.

So again, with more conviction than ever, if he beats Linares and then Garcia I'm classing him an ATG and I have no doubt whatsoever he's deserving of that praise.

I got Loma TKO by stoppage, due to cuts

I think Linares can put up a good fight tho

Loma deserves full credit if he wins... Linares is either #1 or #2 at 135. Its a good scalp

Lets see if GB/TR can finalize a deal...

I think he is better at everything than Mikey, and I think there’s more than just a money reason for Mikey ducking Linares.

Meh, i guess im the only that doesnt see anything special in linares. Hes got good speed, decent power, and good footwork, but his defense is very inconsistent, his skin is is still easy too cut, and he lacks the killer instinct that seperates the good fighters from the greats. I think lomachenko toys with him and busts his face leading to stoppage.

I'll take Linares resume anyday over Garcia. He does everything better.

Mikey is bigger and sturdier (but it's been 6yrs since anyone cracked Jorge's chin, he too has gotten a bit sturdier since he's not killing himself to make weight anymore), but "bigger and sturdier" comes at a cost - i dont think Mikey can make 135lbs anymore. He's historically had real weight troubles in his career.

Man do i have to disagree with that. The speed, footwork, and solid power all jump off the page. Great jab that he can double and triple up, hooks off that jab, can throw on the move. His combinations work the body and the head. Great feel for timing and distance. Accurate counter puncher. The skills just ooze out when you watch him. I think only Lomachenko is the more skillful boxer in the game.

He does cut easily - but his skin hasnt cost him a fight since Demarco 7yrs ago. His chin has failed him in 6yrs. Can anyone say this guy is easy to hit? How often is he getting caught flush??

His flaw is obvious - he's a front runner. He falls off after 4rds. Losses concentration and focus on his gameplan. He's almost Khanlike in that he fights off reaction and gut instinct in the middle rounds..it's almost disjointed at times and he can cede control of a bout he's commanding. He always pulls it together down the stretch though.

    He missed weight once lol

The way Linares has looked lately, Mikey would KO him

    Still a good bout

Worship Garcia? Haven’t you noticed that the haters are already abandoning Mikey because they know a Loma-Garcia showdown is inevitable and Mikey is tailor made for Loma?

Actually, Linares is special. But inconsistency, yes, seems to be his problem. Because sometimes he's just stellar, but sometimes it's like: "wtf is he doing..??"

Linares who had trouble with Kevin Mitchell? Campbell run him quite close aside from that his best win is Crolla.
Against the right fighter Linares looks a world beater, Mikey is proper he got too much for him most well rounded fighter at that weight, his timing and power nullifies Linares' speed all day

Mikey has obviously better power, timing, chin, skin, defense.

Linares seems to have more moves, better movement and maybe reflexes.

I like Linares but Mikey is on a different level.
