I know it sounds funny, "retired" like as if he achieved something, but he used to be pretty active, deserves credit for winning the prizefighter at those weights, his style wasnt as entertaining as he thought it was, but he was a fun guy never the less, shame he never got that shot at the british title he longed for. Yassine's a nice guy, takes banter well. Feel bad for him but he's in the who needs him club and sadly he's stuck in there with fire exits blocked off. I'd like to see him stick around but he wants to make big fights and he's good enough to fight our better welters/lmw's but they won't risk it and they don't have to..
He's caused most of his own problems. Burnt bridges with all promoters by acting a know it all *****. Unlike most 'who needs him' guys, Ajose, Choi, Witter etc he actually sold tickets. It would have been worth their while putting him on shows if he hadn't been more trouble than he was worth.
He was due to fight Ryan Toms who is a fighter in Northolt west London last month, but for some reason the fight didn't go ahead.
He finally got his shot in Prizefighter won that then got injured and had people pull out ever since, he hasn't got a British passport yet either so, its harder to get fights. People don't like his style but its very effective and he can definitely compete at a decent level.
this is a shame. he makes for pretty ugly fights at times but i believe he showed flashes of brilliance as well. Great counter left hand. i think he could have easily captured a british and commonwealth title.
Maachi retired, Froch aging and only a few fights left. Will we ever have the opportunity to see a Street Fighter style uppercut land? I want to know what happens if one connects.
no doubt, his promoter says he got him a world title eliminator before he told him hes been fighting weith a messed up knee. i think it was at 154.
