I have heard people say he will look less impressive against good opponents.

That would imply he had looked good against bad opponents.

He has not even looked slightly impressive against the worst fighters out there however.

Look how in accurate his punches are.

Look how he cannot counter punch. His dire opponent walks towards him throwing weak shots, chin up in the air. Not straight right, no nothing.

Look how he cannot jab properly. His jab is less than an arm punch, not even a distracticing jab.

Look how his head does not move.

Look at his slow hand speed. He can bareley manage a 2 punch combination even when his opponent is covered up in their shell.



I am on to you all now.

I know this whole El Maachi thing is an inside joke between friends on the British forum.

I know not one of believe a thing you are saying.

 

this guy is a talent the way he was walkin spitko on too sum of them punches was amazing oh an spitko isnt as terrible as u think billy jo threw everythin at spitko and cudnt stop him

 

How long was he training him self for? also i heard the itv4 team say he didnt take boxing up til his 20's did he box amateur? also the itv team said he beats up world class fighters in the gym do you know the names of any of them? Cos itv were trying to sell him like he was the most avoided fighter since charley burley:huh

 

he fights in a way that makes it look like he is stunning but really he isnt getting much done. against a guy who is confident and sound in his technical ability's he will most likely get caught by somthing to which he will have to reconsider and think of a new plan.....also anyone notice how poor a right hook he has very left handed style, which is alright for the moment. a southpaw who uses his left hand alot is very awkward and hard to find but it could be a bad habit to throw lead left uppercuts

good prospect and very talented think he can go to some places

 

Hi all just to clear a few things up about Yassine El Maachi.

Almost 2 years ago i was putting on a show with Steve Woods. We matched El Maachi with Thomas McDonagh.
Before the fight i was going round the dressing room to make sure everyone was ok etc and i saw el maachi sat on his own. I asked him where his trainer was he told me he had just come on his own. I told him i could warm him up but didnt want to do his corner because i knew Thomas and didnt feel rite. I got out my pads and was shocked when he started throwing punches, i couldnt believe it power, speed etc. However in the fight he hardly threw a punch. I was confused but thought he must just be one of those guys who look good on the pads but cant perform in the fight.

A few month later i was in Glasgow with Gomez and Yassine was on the undercard v Eammon Goodbrand. We remembered eachother from Colne, again he was on his own so i said i would look after him. Before the fight when i was doing his hands i said to him 'Lets get a good win tonight' he just shrugged his sholders. I couldnt believe his reaction. When i asked him what was going on he told me he was worried if he won he wouldnt get anymore fights. This then answered my question as to why he was so different on the pads then in the fight. At that point i promised him i would get him fights if he won that night. He beat Goodbrand easily!!!

I backed up my promise, Yassine started training at my gym and we started getting him fights.
You have all herd the story about the Malonie bet. I cant think of anyother boxer in this country who wouldnt just bet on a win, but bet that he would knock an unbeaten fighter out! Thats just one of many stories with Yassine, the guy weighs 10st 10 most of the time so the 10 7 welterweight limit is a breeze for him, yet when he was offered Jamie Ambler at 12 st 3 he didnt complain he jumped at the chance and knocked ambler (who rarely gets stopped) in the 2nd. He has also beat spitko twice, spitko weighing a stone heavier both times. Again can you think of another welter who would go through with this fight. His record with me which is a true refection is won 7 (4ko) lost 0

Ive had Yassine Sparing some of the best Middleweights and Supermiddles in the country and he more than holds his own.

The early losses are not a reflextion of his ability. When your told win and your not getting any fights what do you expect.

My point is, if your a boxing fan, if you appreciate a good boxing story. If you want to see real talent get a chance. Lets get behind thos guy. He is a diamond!!!

In the two years i have had him we have packed our bags 4 times to fight unbeaten prospects in Germany and Poland only to be cancelled before we set off to the airport. He has also been matched with alot of the the top 10 light middle weights i this country again cancelled at the last min. The guy doesnt loose heart and just gets on with it. He just loves the sport!

I can promise you when yassine fought Spitko a few months prior he outboxed him for 4 rounds. This time Spitko did the sensible thing for him to survive, he grabbed spoiled etc.
Yas still stopped him in the 3rd.
Billy Joe couldnt stop him there were the same weight.
Spitko was 11pound heavier than yassine.

 

Excellent background info - really explains the losses on his record - I knew they were a false reflection anyhow. I started another thread about yassine a couple of days ago and I concluded much the same as you - boxing needs guys like Yassine.

 

What ? What Bet ? I should really pay attention to commentators, pundits what have you. What bet ?

 

Great post kevin thanks for the info, that has changed my view a good bit on the showman, i will be rooting for him from now on. Maybe a possible fight with jenning's or brook down the line?

 

He bet Maloney his purse he would stop him.........in the dressing rooms i think......then he did.
