It was an uppercut to the diaphragm. I’ve been dropped by that exact same shot in sparring. One of the worst places to get hit. Your legs just stop working and it takes a while to start breathing normally again. It was ruled as a foul as it’s up to the discretion of the ref but I think if the fight had taken place in the UK or US , Usyk would've been given a 10 count.
Now, post a diagram like that ... when Frazier spent five minutes on the floor from a low blow, or Ali went down for five minutes from a low blow, or George Foreman from a low blow, or Fury from a low blow, of Lennox Lewis from a low blow, or Joe Louis from a low blow, or Marciano from a low blow or fringe guys like Witherspoon and Thomas and Weaver ... or freaking everyone who held a heavyweight belt or two. Holyfield got punched low by Dokes multiple times early, and BURIED a low blow into Dokes so he wouldn't do it again. Usyk doesn't get enraged by those shots and fight fire with fire because they weren't really low blows to begin with. It's a bad look for Usyk. He did it as an amateur, and he does it as a pro. Most guys are headhunters, especially in the amateurs, so instances are rare anyway. But he still has them. It's just a bit ridiculous you have to post a chart that looks like a weather map ... trying to show technically what is low ... and what may not be low ... and how low a certain punch may have strayed ... yet still not hit him in the balls ... but got most of his trunks, but ... Nobody wants to study diagrams like that on Saturday evening. People just want to see these guys fight and for a clear winner to emerge. And if Usyk thinks he was hit low by Fury on Saturday, then hit him back low. Otherwise, enough already.
You don't have to be able to see a fighter navel to know its on a line with the hips, That's why Tony Weekes needs a lesson in anatomy. He obviously thought Kovalev was deformed & his navel was level with his testes
Yeah Ive had that myself , was fighting a guy that threw low 3 times with no warning I asked ref if he was going to do anything. he said " Youre fighting him not me " so I dug one in in retaliation. the guy went down like hed been shot the ref DQ'd me immediately. Turns out the ref was my opponents uncle , he got kicked out my coach reported him In that pic the guys navel is on a level with the word "starts" in that pic that punch is LOW
All this 'Usyk had his shorts pulled up too high' talk is nonsense. It's only been mentioned by those who didn't pay attention during the fight or have an agenda. Usyk's navel was right behind the top of his belt line. Whenever he took a breath or stretched a bit, it popped up. Look here, you can see it every time he takes a breath while he was recuperating: This content is protected You could also clearly see it when the fight was about to resume. If Usyk had pulled his trunks up high, why on Earth would he choose to have them that low, so his navel is visible right when he is hurt and vulnerable, and Dubois is definitely about to try to hit him on the body? https://i.postimg.cc/85Ny2qnp/369599801-10159998624112852-86563964124455064-n-2.jpg Also, the navel is visible sitting just right on top of the beltline moments after Usyk knocked Dubois down for the second and final time, meaning his trunks were consistently sitting at the same height throughout the fight. https://i.postimg.cc/C17vSmWj/369650400-10159998624147852-8390662863380441166-n-2.jpg The only one having their trunks pulled up too high that night was actually Dubois.
Legal punch. Dodgy referee who also treated AJ unfairly called it low when it wasn't This content is protected I guess these are all low also. We've had plenty of stomach bodyshot KO's hitting the beltline on trunks which are almost always high. The stomach is a prime target. Literally hours of footage, thousands of stomach punches on the naval which are all legal and guess what....Dubious punch is in the club.
Very good post which should be pinned . Many people are arguing and splitting hairs without seeing the whole picture and you explain it very very well .
It was a legal shot. But a lot of Usyk fans felt insecure about it, they couldn't stomach (pun intended) him being legit hurt and possibly stopped by Dubois. If the same exact punch landed on Canelo for example and it was ruled low, most of this board would have had a cow claiming corruption, referee protection etc. That said, I will throw those who say it was low a bone, and say it was definitely borderline, and arguable as low. But most people who say it was low have a personal investment / rooting interest in Usyk. I like Usyk too but it connected to the belt-line, therefore should have been deemed a legal punch. That's just my take, no need to get worked up about it. I don't really have any issue with people saying it was low, but a lot of those people are big Usyk fans and had an intrinsic reaction to that, feeling a need to defend their guy.
We shouldn't assume it woud be a KO, though Usyk was hurt and it was unclear if he would have beat the count had it been ruled a KD.
Punches like that are landed every single fight and the ref doesn't say a word. That didn't touch his groin. It was a legit gut punch.
