Totally agree Frampton is one hell of a boxer,if he beats Santa Cruz again then he has my vote. I think the fact that the best fights of the year were 50/50 affairs speaks volumes for the need to put on big meaningful fights as we've lost many fans to MMA already,Thurman v Porter another 50/50 turned out a great fight, the other 50/50 was Ward v Kovalev and whilst I enjoyed it if I'd of payed for it I'd of been disappointed with the grappling from Ward and head locking from Kovalev, maybe it should be in the stinker of the year catagory? Next year has lots of potentially great fights,I'm hoping someone follows Brooks lead and steps up to try and beat GGG?
Yeah the Fonfara result blew me away as I've always rated Fonfara and its my hope that Fonfara can write it off and get back to his best, mentally he may done though?

Virgil Hunter for TOTY! The way he engineered Ward to the victory over Kovalev was brilliant! A lot of people thought Kovalev was going to destroy Ward but, Hunter trained Ward to be very smart! Hands down Hunter is the best trainer of 2016!
Fight of the year should be Kovalev-Ward. High skill, styles that meshed perfectly, both guys showed they could tactically adjust, dramatic ebb and flow from the knockdown through Ward figuring out Kovalev to both guys going for it in the 12th. It was competitive boxing at a level I was in awe of and every second was compelling. Boxing at its very best. You can say Ward has held and stalled in past fights, but saying that about the Kovalev fight is just hate. I don't care who was the official winner, it was a great fight that should be celebrated. That there's so much bitching about and that it probably won't be fight of the year shows that one of boxing's worst problems is boxing fans and media. Can't vote on fighter of the year till Usyk fights. If he puts on a great performance he could outdo Lomachenko.
Kovalev-Ward was the fight of the year, no? I don't really care about the scoring. As I was watching it and immediately after I just thought it was rare quality, that they both produced a work of art, and it was just why we watch boxing. The quality of the fight is what we should be talking about and how the fight should be remembered, not the scoring. Salido-Vargas was great, but didn't quite have the skill, intensity, and stakes. Thurman-Porter is overrated, but it was nice that a good scrap got a big audience on US network TV.
