Is that u in the pic?.. How old are you? You look a lil young. I'm 33 and trust if you've ever really seen and analyzed SRL fights you would see that he was Just as skilled as Floyd but took more risks, went for KO's and wanted to fight the best in their prime to prove how good he was and not just say it.. There is no one on Floyd's resume that a prime SRL would not humiliate. I give Floyd props for being a great fighter in an era of average fighters, but to say he the GOAT is stretching it.. He would lose to prime SRL, Hearns and a focused in shape Duran and any fight fan who isn't a Floyd fan boy would not argue that. Also anyone who says SRL ducked Hagler needs to remember at the time Hagler was a middleweight and SRL was Welter.. Avoid yes, duck no.

Unfortunately it's very much the truth.

For example, perhaps Larry Holmes would have been elevated even higher if he had Ali's competition.
That's not to say Larry wasn't as talented, but he just didn't have the same level of competition as Ali. He could not prove his greatness on the same level.
Ali is often if not mostly regarded as the best heavyweight of all time, and his level of competition plays massively into that.

Anyone with eyes can see that Mayweather is a unique and extremely skillful boxer. But if we're talking about the very, very best fighters of all time, then his comparative lack of great opponents will cost him.

On a skill level he is up there, but his legacy does suffer somewhat. It's not his fault, but it is what it is.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. What mega names? The only one he missed out on was Pacquiao.

And hey even Ray Robinson turned down Charley Burley.

Historical posterity and a distanced perspective will be MUCH kinder to certain of today's faces of boxing than certain others. :!: :good :deal

    jesus.

let me say it a different way.

where do you have floyd ranked atg?

    top 30? top 35 right?

what is stopping him from being say top 20?

    his skills and talent?
    his win and loss record?

no. his skills are up there with anyone.
no. he's undefeated. no one has been able to beat him.

    so why isn't he higher?

because in comparison to those above him , they have better names on their resume.

    right?

    that is all i said.

don't be thick , man. don't be that guy.

    Well when you say

I automatically think of the top 30-40 guys and I don't see many in that range with many haglers or durans on their resumes either. That's what I'm saying.

Unless you're talking about a different class?

Top 40 all-time is more than respectable. That's crazy good, really. Just saying.

There will also be a few smart people who will notice that Floyd "retired" for two years so he could duck prime Margarito, Cotto and Williams.

But yes, most boxing fans are idiots and will rank Floyd very highly.

    Margarito sucks though.

    Floyd>Mosley>Margarito

  14. Pac will be remembered as a warrior who was kicking ass way above his natural weight. Floyd will always be the guy who was too cautious to fight the best at their best.

  15. Even if Floyd beats Pac in 2013 its too late. Pacs resume smashes floyds 2 bits
