10 rounds @ light welterweight. Headlining a Wednesday edition of ShoBox, a week from tonight.

Both are undefeated. Both have faced threadbare competition thus far.

Solano is a pretty straightforward phonebooth slugger. Horrible footwork and balance in general, and not particularly educated hands either. Defensively he only has the one tool in his belt - a stationary peek-a-boo, no head movement or pivots. What he does have going for him is that he throws home run swings frequently in the inside (although his power and Williams's whiskers are both question marks at this point) and he's a southpaw, something Williams has had difficulty with (drawing with Trigger Tre'Sean Wiggins last time out.

Neither man has fought since 2019.

Having watched both of their most recent bouts ^, I could see their meeting on Showtime's 2021 season premiere being a lot of fun - but it just as easily could be messier than a meatball sub with extra marinara.

(not that both conditions need be necessarily mutually exclusive)

i dont know anything about williams but watched solano struggled badly against macho araujo, who is a pressure fighter as basic as they come. if williams is even close to domestic level he should win handily.

He looks fairly pedestrian as well from the Wiggins fight, tbh. :nusenuse: I certainly don't think someone at his level, being a New England prospect, should be copping the nickname Marvelous of all things. Biiiiig shoes to fill, there - kind of like "Sugar", anyone adopting it better come correct and have some substance. :sisi1

    Williams probably edges it.

Slightly favouring Williams, his record and ability from that fight seems just slightly above Solano. MD win.

It's a hard call, I'm still mulling it over. But Williams definitely has a speed advantage, especially when he gets his opponent hurt.
