Yep, Yep, Yep.... Those were the days...

These were the days when World titles actually meant something and could not be obtained by vacant title missmatched bouts or with ratings that have been influenced or corrupted. These were the days when Warrior fought Warrior and not only for the title but most of all for bragging rights, in those days your name often meant alot more to you than money as that was the price of ones worth.

These days its not uncommon to have a gym/trainer with multiple so called world champions and this is due to the amount of belts on offer that allow one to call himself WORLD CHAMPION!, the IBO and WBF are fine examples, and the stakes appear to be much higher these days than in the older days because fans are not the wiser as they were back then, they buy this sht up like its the next best thing and all we get in return is guys like Danny Green selling us so called World Title fights that are not worth a pinch of sht, have no mandatory title defences and the organisation is a sham.

I wish we had the old days of boxing return, blokes like Mick Canavan etc, they did the sport some justice and evolved it in a positive way.

I remember the 15 round fights being epics....

The sport has definitely regressed in a lot of ways.

I think the iconic statement from SRR after his two FOTY in '57 & '58 against the "Upstate onion farmer" explained his opinion about those days.

Carmen; "I could have gone another 15 rounds"

Sugar Ray; "Well he wouldn't have been doing them with me"

(many guys never fight that many in their entire career)
