You may want to read what the initial argument was about. 2007 may have broken records, in LARGE part due to PBF-DLH, but it certainly is NOT more popular. The #'s are up in the sense that there are more PPV than ever before and people are FORCED to buy to watch. Thus the reason popularity is DOWN. WWE's numbers are up for PPV from the 90's as well because they have 14 a year now as opposed to the 6 or so they had before. But the #'s per PPV are down and so is it's popularity.

And by coverage, I meant media coverage. Virtually no one covers boxing.

You play this game, one I have already done with you before. You never addressed my post. Don't be redundant.

The point was, PBF was partially responsible for the PPV record. You disputed this as being part of it and left it virtually all on 24/7. Even if 24/7 WAS responsible, PBF would be part of that as well, something I already said.

Yeah help, but not 2.4 million record breaking help. Floyd and his dysfunctional family was the main reason why people watched 24/7. It sure wasn't Oscar and Millie:deal

I was about to say the same thing. Regardless of whether it was 24/7 or not, it was still the fighter and their personality that attracted the attention (whether positive or not)

The only point you made is that boxing has high PPV numbers because there are more PPV's. People don't have more access to PPV, they have more PPV to access. The popularity is down, and therefore, as what the thread was about to begin with, it doesn't account for the reason the PPV record was broken.

Let me make this simple for you. PPV number PER PPV are not up. So saying the numbers are up doesn't account for the PPV record for PBF-DLH.

I have to admit that Floyd's popularity has risen rcently thanks to his bouts with Gatti, Judah and DeLaHoya also dancing with the stars and now Ricky Hatton.

The bottom line is he is getting more money than he deserves.

easily 24/7 had alot to do with it....especially with the commercial fans...but let's look at facts...

oscar brings in money regardless and can fight alex terra garcia and break a mill......

boxing is in desperate need (supposedly, **** i never thought so) of a rising star.....floyd failed to live up to that by fighting low opposition from 140-147.....even though he fights the recognized champ, nobody gave him creds for beating baldo....especially after his performance....

now, in the mean time, oscar has ko'd the baddest man in boxing and is on the rise "AGAIN"....coming back promising to take floyds head off (who by this time, people dont know much about him, but he's getting on their nerves by acting like a dumb****)......little by little people start catching ear of this clown and wondering how he can be the best p4p boxer.....alot of interest easily turns to hate for the little ***, and now everybody wants to see him deaded.....

now, i never said he was a dumb business man...i'll give him that, he's a good one......but a great boxer that is good for the sport HE'LL NEVER BE......

You just don't like him, end of story Freddy. DLH beat Mayorga long after his "Baddest man" persona was completely shot by getting destroyed by Trinidad and beaten by Spinks. So that had little if anything to do with the PPV numbers.

you think commercial fans saw spinks vs mayorga...or tito vs mayorga    please man, get real...

i'm not speaking of real boxing fans like myself, i'm speaking of them commercial fans who would pay to see oscar do anything....all they saw was their idol getting slapped and disrespected at every press conference.....of course after ko'ing him people thought he was actually "back"
