I can see if Mayweather wasn't the lineal/ring/WBC champion and wasn't the universally recognized champion of the division ... along w/ being the p4p king ... but he is the champion of the division and is the rightful owner of all those belts circulating ... (except for the WBO) ... so why would he be ducking the division?

I hate Floyd but he aint scared of anyone and he is brilliant in the ring.

    Why fight Cotto now?
Why not wait until Cotto has plowed his way through more opponents first and public demand is huge?
Floyd is used to 'superfight' money and he will fight Cotto once the numbers are high enough.

How can the welterweight champion be ducking the division? ... there's no way that the champ can duck anyone when he's on top of the mountain by himself and not looking back.

He beat a former WW champion in Hatton, Judah, and DLH ... how's that ducking the division. Yeah Hatton went back down to 140, but he was undefeated and vacated that same title that the beloved Cotto has right now.

He's not mandated to fight anyone ... he's not looking for any unification bouts because he's the rightful owner to the WBA and the IBF straps ... he solidified that when he beat Zab Judah and Carlos Baldomir -- who were the legitament universally, recognized undisputed champions.

    You're a hater !!

Only legit opponent that Cotto has faced is Mosley ... who hasn't done anything significant in the division since beating DLH ...

Cotto is not plowing through the division by beating Urkal, Quintana, Judah, Mosley, and Gomez ... guy who would only wish they could get a crack at Mayweather ... who only wish they had enough clout to grant a match up with the best fighter in the world.

Judah did it but fell short and got blown out ... Mosley could only wish and passed up on him 2wice ...

Gomez who hasn't accomplished anything but a victory over Gatti who was KO'd by Baldomir and Floyd before that.

Quintana and Urkal ... who has no chance of being on the undercard of a Floyd Mayweather bout and aren't good enough to become sparring partners ...

come on now man ... Floyd is the man of the WW and is the lineal champion ...

you haters are making Floyd look that much better and is solidifying his status as one of the greatest boxers that ever lived.

Seriously...what if Ray Leonard never faced Hearns or Duran? That's the equivalent of the situation right here.

If Mayweather want's to fight De La Hoya 80 times for all the money in the world that's fine. But then he's gotta stop talking about legacy and all that other **** because it's obviously not about that, it's about money. Don't be a fake *****, if you want to fight for money, say that you're only fighting for the money, only delusional people believe he's good for boxing if he keeps fighting De La Hoya and Hatton.

so you are saying that once you become champion of a division you do not have to defend the title, because you are the champion.

He rushed to face the EASIEST to beat WW Champ ever in Baldomir....a guy any top 10 WW would have at least a shot at beating, and to make matters worse, he beat him in a terribly boring fashion. Now he sits on the crown while other WW's fight each other. While Baldomir is the Worst WW Champ ever, Floyd might be close behind.
