Now the question is...What will Pavlik do now. And what happens next will speak volumes about Arum and Pavlk's "people". Will they match him against another STATIONARY ROBOTIC/MECHANICAL target like himself (Gray Lockett & Miguel Espino and his long list of previous opponents before bursting onto the scene), or will they Challenge themselves and fight one of the HOT YOUNG GUNS from 154lbs-160lbs...Fernando Guererro, Shawn Porter, Omar Henry, Erislandy Lara, Danny Jacobs or Peter Quilliin.

Rumor has it that will probably be a fighter that has develop a little following or "name" recognition...the two I have heard so far is Andy Lee and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. But I am HOPING AND PRAYING it's Ishe Smith.
A good Battle-tested Vet that has fought Danny Jacobs, Joel Julio, Randall Bailey, Sechew Powell, Sergio Mora & David Estrada.

You know me well because i was just about to "not play along"!!

If I was PW i would try and stay as close to 147 as possible by fighting at 154!! The money fights are south of 154 right now and if it's about money I would find myself fighting at 154 till a guy like Shane or even Mayweather wants to cash out!!!!!

Isn't it two champs Pavlik's now ducked in Williams and Abraham and choose to fight bums, the truth is where else could he have gone at mw other than Martinez, particularly after the injury which effectively cancelled the PW fight, but he was able to fight two weeks later against a nobody! What a joke!

Pav's clearly one of the most overrated fighters of this era, makes me wonder how hyped Haye would be now if he was a American!

this is a good question. there would seem to be a lot of things kelly needs to work on both in the ring and out of the ring. i don't know if getting back into the ring w/ sergio and paul right away is the best way to determine if certain things have been corrected or improved upon. maybe one of those names you listed, game but not elite, would be a better way to go about this.

yeah but a guy he just beat at 160 is the new mw champion. i would think a rematch w/ sergio would bring paul some big bucks.

No, no you can't Kelly. Your main asset at 160 was your size & power, which made up for your lack of boxing skills. At 168 you're just another guy. You won't beat any of the top guys at 168.

if he can do a better job of keeping his weight in check pre-camp he can still make mw. of course this is just a hunch.

Hopefully, if Kelly moved up to 168 he gets matched up better.

If he goes to 168, I'd have him start off with a soft touch/transition guy, then take on Librado Andrade(name recognition, beatable), and then maybe the Super 6 will be done or Froch at least eliminated go after him (though I would still favor Froch).

Yeah, that sounds great...but it's not going to happen. Remember the Classic scene in one of the "Rocky" films when Apollo Creed was training Rocky to Box with Speed, timing and rhythm...Well THAT'S THE MOVIES!!! With 38 fights and almost touching 30, and after soundly getting DUSTED AND DESTROYED vs Hopkins, then two years later, he looks exactly the same (no change in hand speed, still as stiff as a white man on "Soul Tain", still NO ability to elude, evade nor make anyone miss)....Pavlik could be out of the sport in 18 months. With No willingness to IMPROVE and the HUGE talent pool of Young, Hungry SKILLFULL, ATHLETIC FIGHTERS from 154lbs-168lbs...Pavlik would be a SITTING DUCK.

That's why I created the Thread "Pavlik will never be relevant...EVER AGAIN".

Not trying to "HATE" on him, But the fact is...He is just WAY TOO limited fighting within divisions (154-168lbs) that HAVE WAY TOO MANY SKILLED FIGHTERS.

I disagree. It's not like dbouziane is saying change the way he fights and turn into mini Hopkins. He's saying do some basic things that would definately help him. Pavlik hasn't done a good job cutting off the ring, is working on that going to be a huge overhaul? Is that something that is too difficult to learn effectively at 30? No. How about some better footwork? That's a little trickier but he doesn't need to do anything overly elaborate, needs to at least pivot better. I don't think he'll start using any head movement, usually that's something that decreases with age so he's probably never going to do that.

It wouldn't be the first time someone has added stuff to their craft. Timothy Bradley, Nate Campbell, Glen Johnson, and Paulie Malinaggi have all added or changed things throughout their career, and that's the short list.

i know what you are saying. and i agree he looks very stagnant at best and at worst looks to have regressed from the taylor fights. but in my intial post i said he would never be slick or crafty. he never will be.

but there are some things that mechanical, come forward fighters can work on and improve upon. timing, footwork, making better use of your offhand, knowing how to take one step back when your smaller opponent is lunging in, etc.

kelly is never going to turn into rocky III...but a very big, stiff, robotic, strong guy went from not using his limited skillset to the fullest and was getting sparked out to making the best of what he has and now rarely gets touched, is boring as watching the grass grow, but wins consistantly against the same if not better comp that was previously knocking him out.

wlad is a totally different fighter than he was when he was getting knocked out. I'M NOT SAYING KELLY WILL MAKE OR COULD MAKE A SIMILAR TRANSFORMATION with his limited skillset but he can improve. and who knows...maybe it will be enough maybe it won't.

I think Pavlik will take a few tuneup fights, get his fanbase hyped before getting knocked out by a top 5 SMW.

Honestly, Bernard Hopkins was RIGHT ON THE MONEY when he said that Pavlik has to start boxing more like a BLACK FIGHTER.

He's got no jazz in his boxing, as racist as that might sound. He is just so unbelievably predictable, regardless of his skills. 1-2, 1-1-2, pawing jab, an occasional 1-2-3 if his opponent is standing still. His trainer asked him over and over to throw a 3-2 but he wouldn't do it.

He's gotta get loose in there, learn how to move his ****ing head instead of moving straight back, and start learning jazz.

kinda the opposite of that Jack Nicholson line when he tells Cuba Gooding Jr. to "think white and get serious." I understand what you are saying and he can't continue to do what he's been doing or he'll continue to get the same results.

Albert Einstein ~ insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

he needs to work on a lot but improvement is not unattainable.
