I read the article. KP sounds good, and sounds realistic. There are two things I'm very curious about. 1) The updated Team Pavlik web site now lists Miguel Diaz as Pav's co-trainer. This is a move I've wanted them to make for a long time. I just wonder how big of a roll Diaz will play? 2) KP said he wants to go after a title in his next fight, but he said 160 or 168. I just wonder how long it will take for them to actually commit to a weight class?
I think Pirog could beat Sylvester, but Sturm would be one hell of a challenge. It would be great to see those 3 sort things out, see KP stay at 160, and then see KP, Williams, and Martinez in a series of fights, and then finally, a mega fight between the two guys who come out on top.
Why O why did he take a fight with Hopkins????? A. He beats Hopkins - well Hopkins is too Old , this was always going to happen. B. He loses to Hopkins - Kelly wasnt any good , overated , blah , blah , blah. Really poor decision and now he looks a shell of the fighter he once was, all the confidence has gone.
Your an absolute moron. Martinez CLEARLY won the first four rounds before lowering his workrate in the middle rounds and coming back brilliantly to close the show. It's very possible that round 9 was also a 10 - 8 for Martinez considering how he sliced him open and generally beat the **** out of him. As for Jack Loew... whens he gonna realise that shouting 'DOUBLE THE JAB!' just doesnt cut it at world level.
yeah you have been a big supporter of diaz having a more central role in training. this is a good thing. diaz will bring a lot to the table. i also wonder about the commitment to a weight class. from what i gather, this fight at 164 is a bell weather fight...sort of a measuring stick to see what weight he can be at. i guess if he feels good enough, he'll give 160 another crack.
this would be ideal. pirog would stop sylvester imo but yeah sturm is a crafty guy w/ a solid jab...a jab he knows how to use. he won't be walking backwards in straight lines like jacobs was. jacobs actually leaned into that right hand when you watch it in slow motion. but the mw division is right on the cusp of another golden age w/ all the talent there is.
martinez beat kelly pavlik. he beat him and took his titles. but you sound like a hater when you say that what kelly pavlik does "doesnt cut it at the world level" when he was "world" champ. just b/c he doesnt match up well against certain fighters doesnt mean he's not world class. he earned his shot ko'ing everyone put in front of him and then ko'd the undefeated undisputed mw champ. just say he needs to do something different. saying it how you are sounds like blind hate.
Kelly who? The only Kelly I know of is a 1-2 plodder that's an alcoholic? The one that would retire Hopkins and put Martinez in a box and mail him to Argentina?atsch ah **** it is that one....
