I've been a big Miguel Diaz supporter for a number of reasons:

    1) A more active roll for Diaz does not disrupt the team, but it does put another set of eyes on Kelly, and give him the benefit of many years experience at the highest levels.

    2) Kelly has known Miguel for many years and trusts him. Diaz worked Kelly's first pro fight, and most of his fights since then.

    3) When Diaz and Leow talk to KP in the corner, their instructions tend to dove tail right into each other.

    4) In my opinion Miguel Diaz is more than just a great cutman. He's one of the smartest guys in boxing.

I got my hopes up when I saw Miguel Diaz listed next to Jack Loew on the Team Pavlik web site. The way the name is positioned it looked like Diaz had taken on the roll of co-trainer.

I've had some laughs on ESB at Jack's expensive, but more often than not I have defended and supported him. I can't do that anymore. The interview Mr Loew did with B Scene in the aftermath of the Martinez fight made it clear that Loew is out of his depth at the world class level.

He did not seem to have a clue why Kelly lost that fight. He said things like, "He got a little cut, and then stopped throwing punches." And, "I have no idea what happened." He denied that the weight issues had anything to do with Kelly's performance, and actually claimed it was harder to make weight for McKart than it was for Martinez.

I can't blame Kelly for staying loyal to someone he has been with for so long. However, it will ultimately prove detrimental to his career. Kelly is a damn good fighter, and he will probably win another world title or two. With world class training he could be much more than just a good fighter. He could be one of the very best of his generation, but Jack Loew is not the man to get him there.

feel better now? there are things behind the scenes that u know nothing about.. loew is very loyal to pavlik also he is like his son. there are things loew could of said but could not..and sorry that the stuff that was said was not up to what u wanted to hear..loew has his reasons and sorry think what u want but u will not hear what they are..oh and by the way loew never denied the weight issues had anything to do with the fight or performance..thats the first thing loew said was the weight was a big part of the loss.. any way theres alot u do not know so untill u do, keep your opinnions to yourself.

doing well :good from what i understand, its when kelly gets down to 165ish that it gets tough to peel any more weight off. but good lord he has to feel good coming into camp at 178 and to be at 168 already.
