people rave about porter after he beat an average fighter in alexander. ive seen porter in other fights and he is not that great, slow, average power average skills he just matched up well against alexander who as i said is average, brook im not sure how good he could be i guess we may find out soon

some balanced sense on the forum for a change...i THINK Brook is very good but like you say we will find out when he steps up to world level...i was pretty sure he would have beaten Alexander,i think he would have been easier that Porter

Kell is very quickly running out of time to make his mark. He seems to be declining from the flash exciting fighter he used to be, not dispatching the same caliber of opponent with the ease he used too.

God knows why they haven't put him against someone decent, it is a big step up from what he is fighting now too someone like Porter

to be honest it seems to me most Matchroom boxers are going backwards due to the low calibre of opponent
the Hull show was an exception to the dross being served up lately...
i wont be in any rush to buy tickets to upcoming shows, even going back to the 1st froch/groves fight that also was a stinker of a show, top of the bill saved it AND the concept of ppv in uk imo

Yep,I think Robles WAS pretty useful. He's a Mexican and no doubt came up in a hard school. Hard as nails, brave, could punch a bit, knew how to look after himself. I actually think he'd be a decent opponent for Carson Jones. But I also think Shawn Porter, who Eddie doesn't want,or Paulie Malinaggi, who he does, are different propositions altogether.

I agree with your last statement, but I actually think Robles is better than the calibre of opponent he was putting away. For a fair time he was boxing British level. As I said,I think Robles is a hard opponent, either on par or just below Matt Hatton,Carson Jones, etc. neither of whom Kell knocked out clean. He just doesn't seem to be a finisher at this level, and this could tell in a fight where he could need a knockout against somebody like Malinaggi who can take a punch well and is a lot more ring wise than Robles.Porter is a different and more dangerous proposition IMO.

Kell did knock out a former wba champ. Clean out.
People will call senchenko a paper champ but fact is he only lost once before the brook figjt and he was a title holder, no interim or regular champ, he was the actual champ.
So for brook to KO him in the 4th round, imo shows you where hes at.

Brook didnt even leave first gear last night. If kell really wanted too he would of knocked that kid out in the first round.
But no-one can blame brook for this matchmaking problem with him. We've seen brook call out numerous fighters out. From Pacman to Mosely on twitter to queen khan etc. I just think hearn is a **** matchmaker if im honest.
Brook said last night "its hard to get up for these kids now, i've moved on. I want those elite fighters now"

Come june-july brook will be the NEW IBF Welter champ. I have no doubt.

With respect I think he WAS trying to knock Robles out,and I think the ref was trying to let him.

He was only trying to knock him out in the 7th. That was whn he went into second gear.
The reason why i think brook would just dismantle khan is purrly because brook has three top attributes that he specializes in that khan fears.
Power, Accuracy, Timing. Brook also specialises in getting through blocks to still connect with his punches which we have seen khan in the past suffer from that vs PEDerson.

I like brook. Robles was tough like all mexicans are but i just felt brook never really was up for it.

Porter would beat him up, Paulie would have him punching air for most of the night, and Brook would be blowing out his rear by the 7th or 8th round.
He's been having warm ups for years, and looks nothing special.
The way they were raving about him beating Carson Jones in the rematch was laughable, it was almost as bad as the crap they spewed when Khan beat Kindelan.
Brook highlights everything that is wrong with british Boxing, and why the Yanks never take our " prospects " seriously.

Can hardly blame Hearn when the fight with Alexander is called off three times. Winning that would have opened up the necessary doors.

Brook looks nothing special fair enough he wasn't in top gear last night, but Carson Jones was close to beating him a guy who Dean Byrne then went and drew with. Secondly Senchenko was possibly the worst World champion at WW for years, Paulie schooled and stopped him, It took Senchenko 9 rounds to beat a shot to **** coked up Ricky Hatton the guy was never a top WW despite his belt. Brook will loose to Porter or Paulie, he has regressed IMO his Stamina is poor and he isn't the puncher people make out i'd be sure Paulie would take his shots and make him miss mostly anyway.

Maybe I was slightly harsh on Robles but he is still the type of guy somebody with title aspirations should be not just handling but looking fantastic against... I get that he must find it hard to motivate himself for these type fights, especially when considers himself above it; but if as somebody else on this board has said 'he didnt get out of first gear last night' then when he needs that 3'rd 4th and 5th he may find they are not there...

Porter wide decision for me based on how their career trajectory seems to be going, which is a shame really for British boxing.
