If Cotto vacates Golovkin will have to fight the highest rated guy for the belt which are Heiland then Johnson so no point in eliminating the highest ranked guy right now only to have to fight the new highest ranked guy right after.

I like Johnson, think he deserves a break, and it would be a grueling entertaining fight but he really hasn't done anything at least Monroe has a couple okay wins and is a mover which people want to see Gena against. Johnson's management need to get him in there against a contender first and keep him more active.

Ok so.... If you are going to fight 4 times a year you aren't going to fight in blockbusters all the time.

Although these guys are a bit underwhelming it was always going to be someone of a slightly lower level until they can get Canelo or Cotto in there.

hahahahha Dude, we want GGG vs Quillen-Lee winner and THE LINEAR MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMP Cotto by year end. Simple enough? Then, maybe next year he can tackle the 168 guys, including the inactive Andre Ward.

Golovkin would get more credit from his critics knocking out Willie Monroe than he did for Geale, Rubio and Murray.

That's the backward hood supremacist mentality.

I hope it's Monroe, I look forward to the collective whine when he gets starched.

    Correct.....

Murray beats Monroe but I wouldn't be shocked if Monroe beat Rubio and Geale.

I just can't understand how there is an anti-Golovkin squad.

He is a fan friendly fighter and he is very humble and likebale outside the ring as well.

Makes no sense, unless he is fighting your favorite guy, how can you not root for the man? Throwback b a d a s s.

Had Johnson simply cruised in Rd 10 vs Stevens, or even took a knee when Stevens landed the L hook........

He'd be clearly cemented in the top 10.

One lapse of judgement and the guy is considered a nobody.:rofl

Heiland, judging by his 4 losses, and several draws, appears to be something of an Argentine Curtis Stevens, so I will have to disagree with your implication of him being a top 3-4 type win for GGG. Definitely a tough SOB, having never been stopped, particularly by a few heavy hitters, but somewhat one dimensional, and I'd favor Murray, Geale, Rubio, Rosado, and Ouma to have beaten him.

Monroe, who made his name last yr in Boxcino, is himself coming off a very impressive win streak, with some quality names. But he's a slickster, and hasnt proven to have the type of power to keep GGG honest. I also question if he is a natural SP as he lives behind the R jab and hooks off it to avoid infighting. He looks like he lacks the heart to go to war. Just IMO, and to hang with GGG, you gotta dig deep like Ouma did and take the fight to him. The back foot will only intensify GGGs commitment to trapping and devouring his opponent. :think

Sadly, I think Sergio would be a better fight than any of the aforementioned opponents.
