yesterday's fights (ESPN's early Friday night fight) showed off a few top olympic Cubans w/ massive amateur pedigrees, who've escaped that dreaded island, to be able to go pro and make money according to their skills, talents, and work ethic. Their fighting styles are generally of a boxer-puncher hybrid. They all train to bring the power.... Erislandy Lara finally stepped up his aggression and KO'd his opponent in the 1st round with heavy combos... Yordanis Despaigne had a blah 10rounder Yordenis Ugas, just 2-0, blew out his 2-0 opponent in the first round lol. yeah, read some posts and reviews on Yoelvis. Couldnt find any amateur info on him easily. Nothing too outstanding ive heard about him except he loads up on his right alot... and he's Yuriorkis' brother hahahah
even looking at him on his own without comparing him to his brother he's still a subpar talent. just nothing exciting about him
Who do you all think the best cuban Light heavyweight prospect at the moment?.Id say Garcia but tbh ive only seen a a couple of Despaignes fights and a lot of Garcias.
well garcia moved down to SMW, his latest fight was against tough journeyman sepious, who gave andy lee all he could handle in a 10 round decision. but at the moment i have to see despaigne because of the amoutnof coverage he's recieved, havent seen too many othe cuban LHW's. just mostly superwelters and downward
Well since he turned pro at 167 but the rest of his fights have been at light-heavyweight id say he could fight comfortably at either weight class.Hes had a fight since sipos against Demetrius Davis and koed him
based on performance and expectations - Garcia atm. Despaigne didnt come out as strong as he out to have in his last fight....
do you know or heard much of Yoelvis' boxing creds? He pretty much riding on the Cuban boxing movement's coattails?
