I'm not worried about a lightweight like Delwin. I constantly own his ass. He doesn't really know boxing and can't even breakdown or analyze fights. All he does is spout irrational **** about how much PBF sucks he's a playa hating ***** mad because PBF owned his favorite fighter.
See it depends ... I guess he fought the way he's accustom too ... He didn't use intellegent pressure ... if he used intellegent pressure, he wouldn't have taken those unneccessary shots from Malignaggi or Judah or Mosley for that matter. In the fight w/ Mosley he did box effectively and showed that he could fight going backwards against a pressure/power guy in Mosley. If he wouldve boxed - he wouldn't have been cut and he wouldn't have been on ***** street.
Floyd doesn't allow himself to get hit w/ unneccessary shots ... he adjust quickly in the ring ... thats why at times you here Uncle Roger say "keep doing what you doin" ... If he notices that Cotto's guard is high then he's going to jab or straight right hand to the body. If he sees Cotto cutting off the ring ... he's going to pivot and switch angles. He's very good at making quick adjustments in the ring. He will also bang Cotto on the gloves and the elbows until he drops the high guard or he will go around and over the top. He's one of the best fighters who pivots and punches at the same time ... and he doesn't need to have his feet planted to get off effective punches. Cotto has never seen a fighter as defensive, as fast, as illusive, as fast thinking as Floyd. When he thinks he has the upper hand on Floyd - Floyd takes his fight game to a new level and changes dimensions ... something that Judah, Mosley, Quintana, and Urkal can't do. Once Cotto overwhelmed those guys they folded ... Floyd won't do that ... He's not a one dimensional fighter ... he's the best in the world ... and he the best for many different reasons. The fact that he's been a champion for over 10 years says alot ... the fact that he got a title within his first 2 years as a pro says alot too. The fact that he beat 4 lineal champions says alot ... Cotto can never accomplish what Floyd has and he's never seen a fighter like Floyd.
I'm not fat. I'm 6'3 225 *****. BTW your favorite fighter would get a boxing lesson if he ever steps into the ring with PBF and I'm willing to make a lifetime bet with you when it happens.:hi:
The difference between him and DLH is when DLH was moving up in weight he was just overwhelming guys ... once he started to box Tito ... it seemed too out of character and was misunderstood for running, instead of boxing. I thought that for 6 rounds Oscar did a good job but he wasn't shooting hard enough to the body ... if he wouldve committed on his body punches he probably couldve knocked Tito out. The fact that Tito pressed on in the latter rounds and his punches were soooo effective gave him the nod. If you guys seen Tito was turning Oscars whole body when he landed. I think that Cotto will try to pressure PBF ... but PBF is a boxer first and foremost ... he will not change his spots and if he becomes aggressive that only makes him look better in the eyes of the judges. Floyd has seen guys who were stronger than them and he's neutralize their power ... Floyd is the ulitmate neutralizer....
Cotto wouldn't have lost ... if anything it wouldve made the KO come easier and he wouldn't have paid the price for exchanging. Yeah its more dramatic taking and giving ... but thats not boxing ... the sport isn't about KO's -- its about the sweet science ... Cotto wouldn't have had to struggle with these guys if he wouldve just boxed. He's making these matches harder on himself by electing to brawl with those guys.
delwin ... PBF is the best fighter in the world ... Cotto isn't going to do anything ... Cotto is cut prone and takes alot of shots ... I think that it won't even be close and given that Cotto is a slow starter, he's going to find himself behind really fast. No one in the division is as accurrate as PBF ... He's going to attack Cotto's body and he's going to tee off on his dome ... I don't think stylistically - on paper -- or given both fighters history, that Cotto stands a chance at PBF. Where is Cotto's chin ... think about what that chin has been through ... its not going to get any stronger ... What about the unneccessary shots he takes ... he's not going to change all of a sudden ...
I know you're going to argue against me, but it seems like you don't have any ring experience. Look kid, I'm not gonna use me as an example because as you can see, my name is "too fast." Fact is though, you're gonna find people that can outbox you. What you do to beat them in that situation is use your jab and cut the ring off. You try to get the fight against the ropes where you can be most effective and they can't run from you. So you honestly think that Cotto would have been able to outbox Malinaggi? Let's be serious. You think he could outslick Judah? Okay man, you're gonna have to slap yourself for that one. atsch If Cotto attempted to fight either of those guys from the outside on his toes, he would have been destroyed. Cotto knows this and used his physical abilities to his advantage, thus winning the fights. Cotto can box, (when I say that I mean protypical outside fighting), but not on the same level as Malinaggi and Judah. LUCKILY for him though, boxing isn't just about outside fighting, it's about handling your business on the inside, and that's where it helps if you got a nice solid jab to get you there, and powerful hooks and uppercuts accompanied with good physical strength to take care of things when you there. Let me ask you this. You think Frazier would have won if he "boxed" Ali in the first fight?
Great post. I still would pick Floyd 10 times out of 10 to beat Cotto, but it's a great post non the less.
Whats your problem? What have you accomplished in the ring? You talk as if you're mike Tyson himself ... You don't know me and I know alot about boxing its evident that i'm making points because instead of coming back - you're further proving what i'm saying is right... Why are you coming up w/ excuses for Cotto? The thing is Cotto can box ... and he doesn't elect to box ... Yeah you can be outbox ... but what about adjustments? ... what about out thinking your opponent and recognizing things as they develop.
How is Cotto's chin better when he's still taking unneccessary shots and still getting rocked? Cotto is nothing special ... and he's just a carbon copy of past Floyd opponents. DLH barely used the jab ... he never hurt PBF ... and if i'm not mistaken DLH lost.
Was I cutting you down? I never said I was ****. I don't got time to be ****. I got bills to pay and I'm realistic in my ambitions. You think I got the time or gas money to make routine trips 2 hours away to some desolate ass little town, only to arrive and realize that there is no one there to fight? Point is, somethings you pick up with experience. I'm having a really hard time explaining things to you because it's evident that you THINK you know what you're talking about, but the reality of the situation is that you have not been humbled to the extent that you do not because your own stubborness and elusiveness prevents this from occuring. And as far as excuses, I never made excuses. I see Cotto for what he is and I understand what he must do to win fights. I merely described his situation and why the events transpired the way they did and by doing this helping you to understand in a sense, the art of boxing. Mayweather will likely beat Cotto. He will definitely be favored, but I'm implying with this and my previous posts that Cotto has earned his spot, and while he is incapable of "outboxing" Floyd per se, he has a style, the jab, the angles, the strength, and most importantly the confidence or self belief that will trouble Floyd enough to take him to a very dark place and dig into the depths of his soul in order to pull out a win against a very game, intelligent, and live opponent as is Cotto. Anyway....... I guess just go ahead and slap yourself. atsch
I never disputed what you said ... I just said that if Cotto would box more he would find it more easier to get those victories. Just like Tito DLH Mosley ... you can't knockout everyone and soon he's going to get outbox by a guy that he thinks he can knockout.
