I'm thinking of doing yoga at my gym once a week (no homo). What are the benefits of yoga for me in general but also for boxing? And I mean the real benefits not the bull**** claims you see advertised.

    Cheers.

Core strength and flexibility. No bull****. Excellent for your lower back.

Breathing, core muscles, flexibility, and also you work on muscles that you'd never other work on. Added bonuses include improved posture, and most importantly, hot chics in yoga pants.

One massive drawback is some of the bs they spout. My personal favorite from earlier this week, the instructor actually introduced himself as: "Hi, in case you don't me, I'm troy in this current life"

I don't know man. Personally everybody I know that does yoga is in fact homosexual. Just kidding. I don't understand why anyone would correlate one with the other.

However, I can't be for certain that there will be any real benefits for boxing given the type of yoga that seems to be mainstream. I think Scrap may be a good person to summon for this question. Good luck.:D

Says the guy advocating meditation in another thread. Its basically the same thing. All the movements in yoga are bogus, its basically to get you to relax your mind.

Withoutwire, its not a technique for relaxing the mind, its for stimulation, thats what people dont understand. Most excercise is Yoga based its been around a hell of a long time. Only last month I was sent by a clubs coach a guy always getting injured a footballer worth a lot of money. assesing the problem I opted for an old Yoga Oral cavity technique. Since then He feels perfect no problems, also doing the monthly fitness testing his levels went up15%. Dont knock it :D

Scrap, what is the effectiveness or lack thereof of doing the static holds in Yoga for a sport such as boxing?

I would say Feel, it connects . The body works all or nothing, everything has a part to play its our own universe :D, all muscle and senses play a part for what it does better than most things adapt, improvise through the thing between our ears . Call it what you want, Realisation, Conciousness, Reality, enjoy the trip :good
