Of the amateur stars who defected over the last decade, he is one of the biggest busts. Up there with Yan Barthelemy and (IMO) Odlanier Solis.
I dunno so much about Solis IB...he seems to have all skill to be a player in the division BUT the Vitali farce did it for me. Despaigne on the other hand, I really dont know anything about him and I dont see anything that says he will make any noise in the division...Sad really
Yep, he was far too happy to lose a decision last night. Especially considering it was a 6 rounder and his opponent was cut.
He just isn't all that good. Maybe in the amateurs he'd have shut a guy like Cornelius White out, but as pros he just lost to the better man. Even a more motivated Despaigne would have lost that night. It's silly that they're going through with the Miranda fight, as it appears they are. As limited as he is, Miranda has the chops to really give Despaigne a frightful ass-kicking (worse than Sillakh gave him). Honestly, White should have earned the payday against Miranda by beating Despaigne. Victor's spoils.
Was impressed with White from the little I saw. Who is this guy? Can't seem to find anything about him.
