Fact is that Pac's punches ( although hard ) was not having the desired effect on Ugas and because of that, Ugas was able to fight his fight. The odds are in favor of a good big man beating a smaller good man is in favor of the big man. Ugas fought like the bigger man. Spence knew that and that's why he wanted the fight. I myself thought that Pac's power would pull him out but Ugas proved me wrong. I can live with that and big ups to Ugas. However, it would be different with the other elites at 147 because they are his size and fighting tall won't help him. 147 is about to blow up.

I scored the Ugas/Pacquiao main event on FOX PPV in a big way for Ugas, 10-2 rounds, 118-110 points. I gave Pacquiao the 3rd and 5th rounds. Those two rounds and the 1st round were probably the closest rounds of the fight. The 6th, 7th, and 9th rounds were relatively quiet, with few good clean punches landed by either man, but Ugas did the better work in each of those rounds. Per bet365, Pacquiao came into the fight as a 1/5 favourite, and Ugas was a 7/2 underdog. Ugas came into the fight with only a 2" reach advantage, but he worked a hard jab, repeatedly landing hard on the southpaw Pacquiao. Ugas also repeatedly landed hard looping rights to the head. He landed a couple nice uppercuts and did some body work, but the jab and the hard looping right hand were his go-to punches all night, and Pacquiao couldn't do anything about them. Pacquiao physically could not get out of second gear tonight. He just about kept up with Ugas for the first 5-6 rounds, but he faded badly in the second half of the fight. Throughout, he lacked footspeed, ring movement, and head movement, and as such was a sitting duck for Ugas punches. Most of Pacquiao's offense came during swarming attacks forward that may have looked good to some onlookers (such as the awful FOX commentators Kenny and especially Goossen), but those punches mostly missed or were parried by Ugas. Pacquiao's punches lacked sharpness, and he did not move to set up angles for his offense. He did not have the energy to put together flurries late in rounds in attempts to steal them, something he has done plenty of in recent years.

This was the first defense by Ugas of the WBA "regular" world welterweight title that he won against Ramos in September 2020, in a fight for the belt that the WBA stripped from Besputin in July 2020 for his having tested positive for Ligandrol. Ugas had some nice wins on his resumé, but this signature win vs Pacquiao puts him in the elite tier of world welterweights. With Crawford refusing to force Top Rank to get him elite opponents, Spence now dealing with a left retinal tear, and Thurman basically retired, Ugas might be the top man available for a number of lucrative options. Regarding Pacquiao, he was very sharp in each of his two most recent fights in 2019, against Broner and Thurman. I really wish he could have found time to fight a third time that year, he was fighting so well. But tonight he showed the effects of two subsequent years of inactivity, and now being 42 years old. There is no need for him to box again. He long ago secured his status as a first-ballot Hall of Famer. He has no unfinished business in the ring, and no need for a "goodbye" fight. His political career now must take center stage, as he apparently prepares to announce in September the greatest fight of his life, a campaign for President of the Philippines against the ruthless dictator Duterte.

Who gives a ****? PBF could have retired in the ring when he took Pac to slick school in 2015 he only fought Berto to finish his CBS/Showtime contract after that he was basically a free agent. He made more money against McGregor than he did against Canelo it was his 2nd biggest purse and it was the second biggest PPV of all time. You're a fool if you don't think any boxer in PBF's position wouldn't have taken that fight with Connor. Hell Pac was trying to fight Connor ffs. What he's done since retirement is irrelevant he has the right to earn a living that's what you fail to realize and he doesn't owe you ****! It doesn't matter if you support Pac or like him more you cant get in the ring with him and when they fought PBF proved to be better deal with it. PBF and Pac are the two best from the era and are both elite atgs accept it and move on.

Maybe it's for the best because it won't end well....
Compubox says Manny only landed 16% of his punches while being outlanded overall. Yet Ugas was a little too inaccurate. And Manny only outlanded Ugas in 2 or 3 rounds the entire fight. So you're telling me you scored rounds for Manny for punching the air and Ugas gloves more?

You have no objectivity that’s your problem. Pity really.

Styles really do make fights and this guy was all wrong for Manny. I knew from the moment it was announced that Ugas was the replacement.

Manny vs Spence may very well have been a bloodbath, given that Errol definitely would’ve pressed the action but maybe some openings would’ve been there for Manny. Giving the fans a back and forth fireworks display for as long as it lasted.

But against Ugas, nope. What we got was an aging fighter who at times clumsily tried to find range against a awkwardly slick, defensive fighter, who didn’t present enough openings or close encounters for Manny to land his flurries. Which is what I pretty much expected.

116-112 is about right. 115-113 is giving Manny the benefit of the doubt, when he didn’t deserve it.

He is biased and lacks objectivity. The person missing and inaccurate was Pacquiao. Even Pacquiao accepted he lost but the likes of @CST80 cannot accept it

Would have been nice to see Pac win this. Hate to see him go out with a loss.
