I've seen Campas drop guys with jabs. Drop them hard at that.

Then there's the friggin' hook in the clinch that dropped Trinidad.

The guy had power, if nothing else. Power all the way up to LHW against Bleakley and Menefree.

Even Vargas, one of the biggest 154 pounders I've ever seen, opted to box against Campas rather then bull rush him and slug.

So, in my opinion, it could go either way... Though Margarito's grind you down style is the kind of damage that made Campas quit in multiple fights...

I guess that brings up the question....could Campas prevail where Cintron and Cotto didn't? Some people regard Campas as a "perenial contender" type....but he was actually a little better than that. It would probably come down to wether Margarito could impose himself on Campas late without getting stopped first because Campas would likely be ahead on points if it went late....so Margarito would probably need a stoppage to win it. Campas was very strong and could bang as well, so his work would be effective to the point where Margarito wouldn't be able to mount his usual late attack effectively. Campas by stoppage late.

Campas was and probably even still is a ton better than Cintron is.

He also was a proper welterweight as big as Tony was, who showed he carried mad sting up into the higher weights..So I think he is more naturally suited to deal with a guy like AM than Cotto was.

Yory is one of my favs...I hope he finishes up soon but Ill reckon Ill cry when he does because he has certainly given a great service to the sport, fighting over 100 times around the world from jnr welter to light heavy. Sorting the men from the boys on the way.

It is a fairly close call though..I agree with Russ that the griding down style of Margarito could spell disaster for a guy like Yory Boy..But I also think the break your jaw bone in half style of Campas could end messy for a guy with the defensive prowess of Marga.

Just comes down to who can exert their will the most..Can Campas take Tony out or can Tony outlast him.

Campas had the power to stop Margo quicker than Shane....but accumulated beatings were the way to beat him, and the Margo that beat Cotto would've been able to stop Campas late IMO.

Wow, how the mighty have fallen! Just a month or two ago, hell, just a couple of weeks, and this wouldn't have even been a thread. Margarito was considered to be the fighter everyone was scared of, and just check out the cover of Ring Magazine a couple of issues ago. Now we have the concensus saying Yori Boy would beat him. Who knows, he just might have, but it's an amazing turn of events to say the least.

I would have said at any point of Tony's career that its a toss up fight which Campas could well win. Even after his win over Cotto.

Campas had a pretty good chin too before Tito continuously bombed into it. I'm not sure Tony's chin would have held up any better after similar treatment.

campas was tougher and had more heart. He would absorb punch after punch and keep coming, and against tough competition. Margorito has yet to show me that type of grit. I'd have to pick campas by 5th round tko in a wild slugfest.

The last punch of the fight nearly decapitated Campas and he didn't even end up off his feet.

Has Campas ever been off his feet?

I know Vargas broke his nose and he was having a hard time breaking, that was a between rounds retirement.

Another TKO was a hand injury.

Campus is too big for Margo.
    Like 2 weight classes.
A ton of experience and he can punch.
