You got to appreciate this guy. He looks about 50 but is still operating at a decent level. No doubt he will give Macklin a good fight. Respect:rasta
He's pretty damned underrated, actually. Against Asikainen it was a blatant hometown stoppage, Campas was barely stunned. Many feel he beat Duddy. Not to mention he's taken fights against world class fighters like Trinidad and Hoya for a career high purse of... 70,000 dollars. Scary power, as well.
Campas looks remarkably fresh for his age This is a decent fight but Macklin has the egde in speed and accuracy
Campas is one of those fighters I worry about his mental being down the road...... A fighter like Evander Holyfield who is still going, knows how to defend.....but Campas simply does not. Campas has taken too many hard clean shots to the head, and I've watched him since the days before he got his first title shot against Felix Trinidad. The sad part about Campas is that he's one of these fighters that will stick around for some time to come because he simply needs to make a living. Campas is one of the many fighters that Bob Arum has royally screwed over the years. From what I've heard, Arum paid Campas a mere pittance of what he would bring in from promoting him. A sad, sad story!:-(
Still operating at a decent level? :blood It's a tragedy the guy's still fighting. He got a gift against Norberto Bravo of all people.
Campas a legend???:huh i can't believe he's still fighting, he's gotta be in his 40's at least, and sadly just a punching bag right now..
That was a very fair stoppage. I doubt that you have even seen the fight atsch Watch the highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsx4UULd1fo
Asikainen did have him stunned in the seventh as he went back into the ropes Asikainen was all over him. After the Macklin fight he actually thought he had won and was smiling shaking his head in the corner after Macklin was announced the winner.
