Not much discussion about this Japanese flyweight. Where does he rate and should he be inducted into the IBHOF? Interestingly, until facing Pascual Perez, he had been able to avenge all of his losses. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8PhkebPgGQ[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlnHiGvvWqw[/ame]
Have only seen him against Perez, but supposedly a brilliant Fly. Who's he fighting in the top vid' TGA, can't view it at the mo' :good
It's his third fight with Dado Marino, the previous flyweight champion who also challenged for Manuel Ortiz's bantamweight title.
This deserves a bump. I've seen the Marino footage before (thanks to my2sense IIRC) and Shirai seemed a capable jabber and counter puncher with the right hand, a strong spoiler and rough worker in close with decent but not impeccable reflexes. Interesting point about avenging losses. Some solid scalps too, Tanny Campo, Dave Allen, Leo Espinosa (also stopped by, don't know whether it was injury or not haven't looked into that one, will have to dig) stopped Dado Marino as well as decisioning him, just seems a pretty undervalued flyweight champ'. Is there any more footage of him? And am I wrong but do I have footage of his second fight with Perez or am I misremembering?
