I edited in the following after you quoted:

So for instance, if Tepparith Singwancha and Suriyan Por Chokchai are just aliases they picked because they sounded cool (I'm actually not sure if they are or not) I'm happy to refer to them by those and not what is actually printed on their birth certificate. I'm fine with people changing their names...just not selling them. I refuse to indulge the behavior with repetition of the company names they're pimping and making a sales tool of myself on behalf of the Kokiet Gym, or the 3K Battery firm.

Imagine some prospect in New York City on the way up suddenly billed & introduced as "Joey Big Mac" with a big golden arch on the butt of his red velour trunks? :-( It would be ****ing ridiculous, and it's no less so when the boxers in Thailand do it.

It's that it directly feeds the bottom line of some faceless business entity that bothers me. Catic improving his chances of stardom by assuming "Felix Sturm" could be a financially motivated decision, yes, but the door is still open for it to have contained an element of individualism. Maybe growing up he always thought a name like "Felix Sturm" would be awesome, so it was a mix of personal & pragmatic reasons. Even if not, even if he did it purely to make himself sound more appealing to German audiences to increase his drawing power and revenue, it's still a name he chose for himself. He is still his own man with his own identity, even if a contrived assumed one. It's different from being a shill for a business, which is just plain tacky.

Anyways, expect boxing matches in Thailand to be held earlier than expected, their true spectacle is the Muay Thai matches.

That's their main event so they say.

You're saying the shows are mixed, with boxing on the undercard of Muay Thai events? :huh (like how we have mixed pro/am cards over here...or boxing & MMA on the same bill)

Most fights in Thailand seem to be on early, the Porpramook v Piero Perez bout was at the same time as this one. The card started at 14:00 local time I think.

On the whole names front, Nawaphon Por Chokchai and Suriyan are brothers (if that's not already been mentioned).

Srisaket put on one hell of a showing, very impressed by the guy today.

Sort of a separate event altogether, but usually held in the same day and venue, but never did boxing went ahead last.

I laughed at this. So true.

Edit: And once again, respect to a dope one sided fight and our new WBC 115 pound champ.
