Excellent docu-style video I just stumbled across (came up in my YT recommendations after watching something completely unrelated, guess it knows me well enough to have boxing content loaded up in the algorithm :sisi1) - probably the best I've seen charting the course of Toney's career progress comprehensively, from MW through HW. From the brash Kronk gym boogeyman take-all-comers sparring legend days (oh to have been a spectator for those marathon sessions in the 90's), to his dad-bod sad denouement.

It really is amazing how the modern archetype of slick old-school craft (yes, more than even Whitaker or Mayweather) arrived in the form of a guy at the other end of the self discipline spectrum from guys like Pernell and Floyd. Ate what he wanted, scoffed at bags and road work, basically was a poster boy for what not to do in camp - and yet was like a walking instructional video in-ring.

Anybody know who narrates these for Rhythm Boxing? Lends a nice gravitas.

I don't know who's speaking, but I'm pretty sure @escudo writes for them still and Toney's his favourite fighter.

That was Toney's way. His training was sparring. Makes perfect sense when ypu really think about it. Why waste time running to get stamina when you spar 20-30 rounds a day. Put himself in fight mode all the time. Constantly honing his skills in the ring.

Pretty sure Toney studied the Slick Gypsy Style religiously for many years because if one didn't know better you could easily mistake him for a slick gypsy such is his level of slickness

The Middleweight fighter who moved up in weight to the biggest division and became a very tough guy over there. How tough was he? Ask Evander Holyfield.

Name 5 gypsy/traveller fighters who've made it on the world stage as champions who aren't Fury or Saunders.

You think I don't see what you're trying to do here?

You think I'd fall for something as obvious as this?

If I was a fake gypsy Jem ''The Gypsy'' Mace will be one of the five, right?

Well I've passed your test because I know he wasn't a real gypsy

Trying to dupe a gypsy is like trying to drown a fish

    lol...what?

I wasn't trying to make you "fall" for anything.

I asked you to name 5 world class gypsy fighters and you can't.

Sincerest apologies it seems I mistook you for one of my many gypsy hater enemies. They're always laying traps trying to catch me out because they're either suffering from severe GE (Gypsy Envy) or they question my gypsy credentials despite the fact I'm 100% pure gypsy and a distant cousin of the greatest fighting man, woman or beast to ever don or not don a pair of gloves aka Bartley Gorman aka ''The King of the Gypsies''

Five of the greatest fighting men in the history of unarmed combat

    Bartley Gorman
    Bulldog Bartley
    Boxing Bartley
    James Quinn McDonagh
