this entire thread is kinda pointless. the people who don't agree with it aren't the kind of people who are susceptible to reason, so it doesn't really matter how well you make your point.

 

The Heavyweight divsion in the untied states is not very popular at all, the average fans watch the lower divsions instead, fighters like Oscar, Mayweather, Hopkins, Mosley, Pac, and Jones, these guys have personality and the skill/fighting style to attract interest, something the Heavyweight divsion is lacking at this time. If Holyfield/Tyson can bring in more money than any Heavyweight match now, it does show how weak the divsion is, at least it brings in the average fan for one night.

 

Who says these two guys fighting again will stop rejuvenation? As far as we know these two alltime greats fighting again could bring more interest of young people than the opposite. Right now they are more inspiring than any other hw fighter.

It's not their fault that the current hw fighters aren't living up to the fans expectations.
It's not their fault the current era isn't as strong and exciting as theirs was.
Remember: if the current era was as strong and exciting,....then these two fighters wouldn't even consider a comeback.
It's a message to all those beltholders and contenders to step up.

And these two men don't reflect the whole sport of boxing. They nearly present a division. It's the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquio etc who are presenting the sport of boxing and their actions will reflect on the sport (whether positive or negative).

 

On the contrary I just think some people are just so deluded they still believe Tyson can roll back the years if he "just trains properly this time". They are still captivated by what Tyson was they cant let go but they must now. I'm not using hearsay, Tyson was KO'd by two ordinary fighters in his last two fights the last of which was two & a half years ago. He's 42, why are people still clinging onto something they haven't seen for nearly 20 years?

 

Have you read my post (4th counting from above)? It answers exactly that question.
They don't expect to see Tyson regain his old form and fight 12 rounds like the old Tyson.

 

Sorry I obviously wrote that as you posted yours. You make some valid points and if you want to see them fight then fair enough but I refuse to line that mans pockets anymore.

I just happen to believe Tyson has shown he is incapable of making any sort of significant comeback & anything he does participate in will be nothing more than a sideshow that will doubtlessly be bought by millions of deluded fans hoping to see the 88 Tyson step through those ropes.

The allure is with the names at this point. Fight would be promoted on decade old memories.

But I admit, it's sadistic to see how well a washed up and fat coke-snorting Tyson would do against a mushmouthed and shot Holyfield.
