I am with you..dumb ass non boxing fans. If you think that was a bad stoppage the UFC is down the street. Go down there..you do not belong. Marquez did not have anything on his punches and was halfway knocked out and fighting on pure instinct and would of got brutally KO'd if it gone on another 15 seconds. I was yelling to throw in the towel in the middle of the round. Marquez did not recover well in between rounds. His legs were shotty...
I know. Marquez has the heart of a lion. ****, I love him more now. He fought knocked out on his feet for about 1 1/2 rounds
Marquez didnt have any defense , at anytime in the fight. Marquez took way too many clean, big power punches. If Marquez cant defend himself at 100 % , what do think is going to happen when he is rocked and in bad trouble? Vazquez had him finished.
I rewound and replayed twice. I count exactly nine (ten if you want to count one glancing one) clean, hard, unanswered shots landed by Vazquez between the last punch Rafael returned in the fight and the previous one before it. This very accurate volley of power punches, directly after a textbook hook that sent Marquez literally flying onto the seat of his pants, would have given any responsible and compassionate referee compunctions about letting it go on much further. An actual KO stoppage by the end of the round would have been very likely, and from a fan standpoint would have been the preferable outcome. But que sera sera. On the whole Vazquez dominated a close fight the same way the first was close but overall dominated by Marquez. And who can complain about an opportunity for #3?? :happy
Good stoppage, Izzy was applying steady pressure but not swinging for the fence on every punch. Marquez was on wobbly legs and even though he did throw a few punches back they had nothing on them. There was a very good chance Izzy would catch him with another big one and that would not have been pretty.
It would be fun, but at what weight? I'm pretty sure Pac could make 126 but 122 might be too hard. I'm sure Izzy would be comfortable at 126 but Vaszquez and Marquez have unfinished business.
LOL @ sadist. I still say it was stopped too early. He wasnt gonna get killed. He was still throwing right before he stumbled backwards and ate 1 right hand then the ref jumped in. I bet ya'll think the ref should've stopped in when Castillo knocked Chico down twice too huh?
See, stuff like this popping up would be ok if 95% of people hadn't seemed to have written Vaz off as a second-rate quitter after the first fight. Five months ago, I CALLED his victory in the second fight, and figured it would be a stoppage (i had thought legit KO rather than TKO...which with a less sensitive ref it would have been). Sorry to be a jerk, but most people on here are fickle little ****s who tend to sway with the tide of popular opinion. Very few people in the last few months gave Izzy a chance, even many of those who said they were still pulling for him, and again 95% of the board before tonight would have laughed at the mention of Vaz-Pac. Now, all of a sudden such ponderings could well become fashionable. ****ing sheep.
