If I wanted to win I’d go pick a fight with James J Braddock lol - I’m a modern HW too far back and I’d be dead meat against guys with smaller gloves, inside fighting etc I wouldn’t have a clue what to do, Braddock is probably the most beatable HW champ… maybe I’d fight Ellis, Patterson etc guys where “my” size would be so ridiculous I could try to peck and clinch for my life. Out of Tyson and Louis?
Tyson… more money and he is willing to tie up, have an easy night - Louis would send me to the promise land on the inside my size wouldn’t matter.
The heavyweight I’d most want to fight is Archie Moore I’d try and make friends with him in the build up we can talk Aristotle and Ancient Greece, he might take it easy on me when I try to explain my situation - if he didn’t I’d learn a careers worth of lessons in one fight. It’d be fun to meet Jack Johnson and party he might also take it easy on me he had a “gamblers” style if we get down to drinking and he is hungover
If he doesn’t break my face I’d let him know he gets pardoned by the president, he’s got a statue and in time his reputation improves drastically, I’d also let him know why he should drive responsibly.
I wouldn’t fight Dempsey he’d break things same with Marciano or Frazier those guys are too mean I’d need plastic surgery - Ali might let me live, I’d let him know before the bout to eat all the cheese burgers he wanted, that I had no intention on winning. I might be able to propose the same to Larry Holmes or Old Foreman but Holmes might be too suspicious and hurt me, Foreman is a coin flip he’d probably gauge my effort in the first few rounds.
70s Foreman would body me I’d have a limp for the rest of my life - Liston I could run from he seemed to have trouble cutting the ring, if in this scenario I’m at least decent I might be able to just survive.
