What a sorry bunch of fighters.

 

This thread is interesting in that it hightlights pre-80s fighting southpaw was taught as a no no. If your left handed your taught to fight orthodox.

 

Southpaw Heavys....Well Byrd dominated David Tua and when he wanted to box he was a tough foe

Corrie Sanders never really was in top condition but he would have been an early danger in an 8 rd fight with anyone.....Too bad he was not consistantly trained. He had the same promotion team as Lennox Lewis but they fell asleep on the Fast Southpaw Puncher...sounds like a nightmare

Sultan Ibragimov....I saw the way he outboxed Shannon Briggs...not as slick as Byrd but Sultan can wack...I would like to see him back in action, He was a tough cookie

Mike Moorer....Good tecnique, well conditioned but lacked a solid chin

Tony Thompson....Hey this guy had a long unbeaten streak....Good skills..avoided

Karl Mildenburger.....I dont think he comes close to IGGY or Chagaev for power or anywhere near Byrd or Moorer for tecnique but he gave Ali a stylistic problem for a bit

Frazier was a converted southpaw, so was Cooney....Tyson and Marciano would switch during a fight but the were all conventional Pro's

I did not rate them in order but I have to tell you I have been watching boxing for a while and take these guys into any era and they would be avoided.... Southpaws are a ***** to fight and we did not see them in the Heavyweight division till the 90's...Mildenburger was one and more than likely at the end of that list but he did ok vs Ali

 

Sanders vs IGGY or Sultan for the final....Iggy may come out on top but Sanders has a punchers chance
